Sidebar Request

Just a request for a sidebar for some really compelling personal stories on the thread (esp at the end) for this post.

It's a great thread with some neat stories stuff in it. We sometimes hesitate to sidebar really personal "this is my medical nightmare" stories just because it seems to elevate something that was read and responded to by the people in-thread to something that not only the whole community reads but often people off-site do too. So I've been checking on that thread and felt a little weird about sidebarring some of that stuff.

Generally speaking if you think something should be on the sidebar, feel free to flag it as fantastic. Highlighting something via MeTa is okay also, of course.

that was an interesting thread. there's some catty back and forth in there, this being mefi and all, but on the whole people are being decent and informative and I was given some insightful answers to my open declaration of ignorance without snark.

FWIW, while it would be kind of weird for this to be my claim to fame, I don't mind my medical history being sidebarred if the concern is for privacy reasons. I mean, I already get MeMails that say "Oh hey, someone mentioned a seizure and I KNEW IT WAS YOU!" Fine by me. I'm "out" as epileptic in meat space - my employers know about it, etc.

Though yeah, it's kind of... odd... to have this be my first "call out." (At least I think it's my first. I don't remember any others.)

I appreciate you sharing it on the thread, grapefruitmoon, and thought others who haven't seen that thread would find it compelling too -- as well as timely.

Hey, if my chronicle of crap does somebody some good, I'm all for it. It was pretty crap-tastic for me. I'm down with there being some kind of small bright side.
