Just wanted to say that I am happily amazed at the high quality of the front page today. A+++. I don't want to single out any one post because it's all just good. Thanks, everyone (and thanks to those who post good posts on other days).

I agree - the links are great. I just wish more people would read them.

I hate it when someone just drops in at the top of the thread to slag on the post before having read the entire front page and all the comments therein.

Alright, my sarcasm didn't come through as intended in that comment. No offense meant, tmotat, and apologies for my STILL AT WORK bleatings.

I like to think that I did my part by not making an FPP today.

Obviously you are talking about my post, so you are welcome :)

2013 is the year of Happy Metafilter. I have faith; so should you.

I almost did. But thought better of it and just stuck Emerson Baxter Walsh Entwistle + Phillips on my Facebook instead.

I mean, sometimes you just have to put your real fake name to things.

Hooray for a good day of posts and recognition of same!

I know, right? The front page had me googling for Queen Elizabeth the Second's wardrobe crew at 4am...

What is the record for most FPP in a single day?

Yay. Now I have to go read them all. I finally finished reading all of Ask, and was going to go to bed, but I don't want to miss anything fabulous, so up I stay.

You're welcome! (I refrained from posting a low-quality version of the GMO post early this morning, figuring a good one would go up within hours. The system works!)

Do people really have time to read the entire front page and all the comments?
posted by Brocktoon at 11:48 PM on January 4, 2013

Everyone should read all the sites, every day. Unless you want to miss out on the true gems.

Brocktoon writes "Do people really have time to read the entire front page and all the comments?"

That's not anywhere near a Kiboing effort yet.

My theory, which is mine, is that obviously everybody saved up their posting mojo during the holidays and finally let rip, hence the flood of excellent, interesting posts.

I was getting ready to do lots of flagged as fantastic yesterday for the best post contest then felt slightly let down when I realised it was over. Like, why did you all save up the good stuff for right after the contest was over?

There was lots of good stuff is what I'm trying to say.

Thanks for pointing it out; it made me go see a few things I might not have otherwise. I like this stage in mefi's evolution I must say. I'm not around as much as I have been in the past, but there are so many different paths to discover good things within the site that it kind of mirrors the original intention out there in the wild web, viz: find things by serendipity and put them on the site. These days I find the random good things on the site in the same way. Am I the making sense? Good mefi twenty13. Yes.

I was thisclose to recording your song with rimshots, ukulele and bicycle horn, flapjax, but I have company coming and I can't find my son's kazoo.

The trick is to not read any of the links.
