My Metatalk mainpage categories are always shifting order

My Metatalk mainpage [metatalk.metafilter.com] categories are always shifting order. Anyone else?

I think it's supposed to do that. I've noticed it happesn when there are new topics posted in certain categories. Doesn't really bother me.

I believe the categories are sorted on most recent post.

Rather useful thus.

I always wonder, though, why there are TWO categories called "Metafilter".

Probably because Metatalk is the bastard red-headed stepchild of Metafilter...

It sorts categories by newest thread. I was always intending to do a sort by newest comment as well, but never implemented it.

Matt's pointed out previously that Metatalk is basically running an early, hacked version of Metafilter. It doesn't have the same feature set and regularizing them isn't one of his highest priorities right now. Shrug.
