Pony request: Add Google+ to the Social Apps list in profiles?
Perhaps this was mentioned back when the "X new comments" thing was rolled out - but I didn't know that if you happen to be reading a thread at the moment it is deleted by a mod what you get instead of that box is a very cool red box that just says "This Post was Deleted". I highly recommend looking for one of these if you get the chance; it's like the MetaFilter equivalent of seeing the elusive green flash at sunset.
Ponies are great and friendship is magic, but do we really need more? [more inside]
If comments clarifying what this misleading meat post are going to be deleted, could a mod at least fix the post? It's not about "the" Chicago Fire.
Since the original post asking about this has fallen off the MeTa front page, I just wanted to let people know that Deathalicious (maker of cool scripts) has updated Metafilter MultiFavorited Multiwidth and Metafilter Heavy Discussion Count user scripts to be compatible with version 5 of FireFox. If you know of other scripts that were broken by FF5 and have been fixed, please post here. Thanks Death!
When the "x new comments" link is clicked, does it also magically pull out deleted comments as well? [more inside]
Say, is it possible to talk about either any Huffington Post link or anything having to do with talking to children without derailing the convo by, respectively, reflexively labeling them as "stupid" or as possessing a "pedovibe"? [more inside]
The Social Apps on MetaFilter profile pages are a way for you to show where you're contributing at social networks on the Web. We have a list of 98 sites you can list including Flickr, Twitter, and Last.fm. (Full list here.) We're making a couple changes to Social Apps today including opening up the rules for what services are included and changing the way we include content from those services on profile pages. [more inside]
I just set up a group for MeFi members over at NeighborGoods, a virtual lending library of "stuff" site. In the continuing tradition of not reinventing the wheel around here, I'm opting to use an existing service to help people share their belongings with other members, so have at it, sign up and list your things. [more inside]
In a recent AskMe, a mefite called for help naming a character actor. The name found, said actor turned up in the thread. [more inside]
It's time for folks to sign up for Health Month again if they haven't already. (Previously: 1, 2, 3, 4) Special shout-out to web-goddess who has taken over as Fearless Leader! [more inside]
There have been at least two previous MeFi writers' groups but there is not one now. Is anyone interested in forming one? [more inside]
I submit a new requirement: If someone refers to a particularly yummy food that they have made, recipe-sharing shall be required. Case in Point: rtha's Bacon Jam
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am now five comments away from 10k on the blue. [more inside]
How common is it for the unnamed subject of an Ask to show up to clarify their position and/or rebut the Asker? I've seen examples where a celeb shows up to give their view on their actions or work a few times but this is the first time I've seen this particular event on the green.
How come there are so many more MetaFilter FPPs on the first page vs so few on MetaTalk's first page? [more inside]
Let's here it for team Butt Elephant. [more inside]
Firefox 5 breaking Mefi Greasemonkey Scripts? [more inside]
Every so often I see questions about how we should treat spoilers for ongoing TV shows like Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, etc. What I don't see is any posts actually dedicated to those things. Where are we discussing current TV that spoilers are an issue?
What does "on preview" really mean? [more inside]
I guess Ironmouth is accusing Trurl of being Joe Beese in these 2 comments? Whether it's true or not, it's a shitty way to engage people in the thread.
Was there stuff deleted out of this thread? There appear to be comments referencing material that's nowhere to be found. [more inside]
Are front page posts supposed to have a "point"? [more inside]
Any MeFites check the member number of the people favoriting them – feeling chuffed if they have 4 digits, whereas your eyes might glaze over if they have 6 digits*? [more inside]
MeFite Simulare's grandmother has been missing in San Francisco for 24 hours. She suffers from dementia. Please help. UPDATE: found! [more inside]
For the last decade or so, hunnerds of MeFites have culled their favorite tracks from their music collection, burned them onto handy, decorative CD-Rs, and mailed them across the globe. It's that time again, so let's MeFiSwap! [more inside]
What is the gross out limit for an FPP. I came across a series of videos that I feel would make a great FPP. Much cultural and social connection. Unfortunately these NSFW videos are graphic beyond belief including many photographs of decapitations, burned bodies, and too many dead bodies to count. I could just go ahead and post it and face deletion but I wanted to be clear about what are limit here is advance. Is there a gross out limit?
Suggestion, not critical: perhaps a way to show that a post has been closed/deleted, in the style of the "X New Comments" update at the bottom of the thread? [more inside]
Is there a place to post non-web projects that we have been working on somewhere in MeFi? [more inside]
How could I Have made this a better post? [more inside]
How did the whole "Metafilter: X" thing get started? [more inside]
As a person, like many of you, whose friends, lovers, coworkers, parents, grocery clerks, insurance agents and all other myriad individuals we come across are fucking sick to death of hearing Arrested Development quotes, I'd like to publicly thank Rory Marinich for letting us shake out the sillies. [more inside]
Why MetaFilter is Awesome And Why the World Needs to Know [more inside]
Search seems to be failing me when I check to see if my post is a double. This has happened several times despite efforts to ensure it's not a double. [more inside]
Is there anyway to get a chart of my comments over time, using the Infodump and Excel (or any other tool suitable for the job). [more inside]
I'm finished. [more inside]
Pony Request: Can we have a reissue of the MetaFilter jerseys which featured the user numbers on back? Some of us missed out the first time around, and it'd be nice to include the newcomers...
This is not a double/previous post. I actually wanted to post about the fantastic Beachcombing's Bizarre History Blog which has not been featured here before and chose the Katzenclavier [sic] post to introduce it. The fact that there has been a recent post about Katzenklavier has no bearing on my post. It may have some relevance to the previous post but as rivenwanderer said in the comments "the Strange History blog is fantastic". Maybe I should have just posted the general URL of the site but I thought I'd point out a particular post that I found interesting and let everyone explore for themselves as rivenwanderer and I'm sure many others would have. Une leçon apprise. Minor gripe - the 'original post' didn't have katzenklavier in the tags [not that that would have helped considering my cut and paste misspelling, but still].
Game of Thrones spoiler policy: is information from books 2-4 considered a spoiler for the TV show? [more inside]
Past posting history: When is it okay to mention? [more inside]
Hey mods, are some flaggers more notorious than others? [more inside]
Pony request: saving a post until it's ready [more inside]
Ah, here I've let time get away from me, and I've missed Moderator's Day. mathowie, jessamyn, cortex, vacapinta, pb, and now restless_nomad, each of you is more on the ball than I've ever been. Cheers. [more inside]
I noticed that the posting guidelines suggest looking at posts with 10 - 20 comments as examples of posts that spark a decent amount of discussion. These numbers seem out of date to me. Maybe they should be changed to 40 - 50 comments? [more inside]
Can we please have a moratorium on linking to the Bill Hicks rant in any and every advertising thread? [more inside]
Since the Amina post is closed, is this where we would post that it's been confirmed a hoax? Seems a pretty important point to have in the record here. [more inside]
Is there a list of Mefi visual artists or photographers anywhere (Not musicians or authors)? I know about the Volunteer Portrait Photographers and MefiMall, but is there any other list of Mefites that are visual artists or photographers? If there is no such list, can ya'll help flesh one out on the Wiki? [more inside]
I'm a reporter and think an ongoing story in my neck of the woods would make for a decent post on the blue. I am fully aware of the rules against promoting one's own work, but would it be acceptable to post about a topic I've covered, provided that none of the links go to that work, nor to anyone I am or have ever been affiliated with?
It seems a comment was deleted at the beginning of this thread, but several comments responding to it remain extant. This is confusing. Can something be done about it? [more inside]
Why do AskMefi users often use "hope" in place of "help"? [more inside]
After a ridiculous amount of participation, my MetaFilter presence is going to fade a bit. [more inside]
Longtime MeFite GaelFC's compendium of '70s and '80s childhood nostalgia, Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops? was released this week to much fanfare. [more inside]

These comments, to me, are over the top and not worthy of MetaFilter. From this thread. [more inside]
Pony suggestion: "new posts" indicator on the main pages like the "new comments" indicator in-thread. [more inside]
Does anyone remember a post about a company selling mattresses out of a swank custom truck designed like a bedroom? [more inside]
Is there any way to find out what kind of membership overlap there is between people who post/comment on the blue, and people who read/answer questions at AskMe? [more inside]

When I try to post something directly from Projects it doesn't work. I click on the 'Preview' or 'Post' buttons the page loads, it says 'Waiting for Metafilter' and 'Waiting for Google Analytics' on the bottom, and than nothing happens. I'm using the latest version of Firefox.
Several websites that post great content on a regular basis have been flagged as needing some sort of extra spectacular event to be worth posting to the blue. For instance, OKCupid's blog, The Daily Show, and Reddit IAMA posts. Is it time that Letters of Note gets the same treatment? [more inside]
A tornado touched down in Springfield, MA today and is now heading for Sturbridge and Worcester, possibly Boston. Mefites, are you ok?
Hey, guys, are we still doing this? Because I haven't gotten an email confirming I'm on the team for June.
This post has me thinking - where would be the best place for me to post an offer to take free OKCupid portrait photos (in NYC) for any MeFites who want them? [more inside]
