"How to get sent to the sandbox" on AskMeFi
I distinctly remember reading a thread in AskMe a few weeks (?) ago, where someone was asking, in a nutshell, 'how do I get sent to Iraq as a defense contractor?' It might not have been that, exactly, but it related to jobs as a defense contractor, or maybe overseas jobs in general, or maybe just 'dangerous jobs.' I think it specifically mentioned the idea of defense contracting (Blackwater, etc.), and the question related to how one gets their foot in the door.
I can't find this, using any combination of searches or tags, looking under all the logical terms (jobs, employment, iraq, all combinations thereof).
Does anyone else remember or have a link to this thread? Or did I just totally hallucinate it?
Let me google that for you
Should questions like this be deleted?
Aren't these both hypotheticalfilter?
Simply because I've always been disappointed we never got to discuss this question, I'm going to go ahead and ask whether the same ban reason should apply to this one.
Not colorblind-ist!
I thought I was posting a question on AskMe, instead I posted it to the blue. Can my question be moved? Pretty please?
Optimizing AskMe
When is the best time of day to ask a question on AskMefi and get maximum response / eyeballs? Seems like there's a hundred questions per day lately. In my particular upcoming case it will be about gadgets, if that affects the answer. Has anyone done an analysis of posting rates over the 24 hour day, and which time periods get the most responses?
Slowest research project ever?
This bugs me. It can't be coincidence, but what is really going on?
I forget where the memorization AskMe is!
Could somebody please point me to an AskMe thread from a few months back that discussed various useful phrases people used to memorize things, like "right tight left loose"? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thank you.
Is it acceptable to offer an incentive for a successful answer in AskMe?
Is it considered in bad taste or a breach of policy to offer a prize or reward to whomever successfully solves a tech problem I'm tempted to post in askme? I've tried various customer support avenues and have had no luck so far.
If it is acceptable, what sort of incentive would be appropriate? Money strikes even me in poor taste. Any ideas, or should I just scrap the reward avenue?

How many questions per AskMe are allowed?
25 answers, 3 users marked as favorite. Yet I get "please don't abuse ask me by asking 300 questions disguised as one" in my email. I didn't actually ask 300 questions, I asked for answers for the debunkable ones. The thread was doing quite well, and was quite informative before it was deleted.
AskMe posting descriptions could be clearer
When posting to AskMe there is some confusion on the descriptions of the text boxes. I copied the italicized text from the "Preview Your Question" AskMe posting page.
Below the "Your question" box the text reads:
This will be the "more inside" area where you explain additional details about the question if necessary. If you use this space, don't write "more inside" to the question area, it will automatically be added for you.
Then below the "Extended explanation" box is something similar:
(optional) This will be the "more inside" area where you explain the question fully if necessary and remember there is no need to write "more inside" .....
I found this a little confusing and repetitive. I know that the top box is what would be a FPP, but maybe this could be phrased better? Is the text below the top box supposed to introduce/explain the second box? Of course, I posted a question so now I can't get back to the original "Post a new question" page to see if that is how this is written there.

Why is my question broken?
Why does my question on ask.metafilter not work anymore? I want to get to the answers, but it appears that the question is broken. (Or is it only broken for me?) Here's the link:

re: Looking for speaking advice...details inside!
Where'd that comment go?
I could have sworn that somebody posted a link as a response to my question. Now that I have time to actually check it out, though, the link is gone. What gives? Bug? Gratuitous moderation? Anyone know what the link was?
AskMe indexing?
Is there a chunk of AskMe that has not been indexed? If not, why can't I find a certain question? (more inside)
Is it time for Ask Metafilter to be promoted?
Given the fairly high usage and value of many of the threads, isn't it time for Ask Metafilter to be promoted to be listed on the Blue? The link in the sideblog to this amazing thread is a clear sign that it's ready for primetime. How about it Matt?
Is AskMe sending unsolicited info?
I have only been a member since Jan. 1, but today for the first time my firewall program alerted me that Ask Me was attempting to send information in the "private information" category (my home address) to the Ask MeFi site. Has anyone else noticed this? Why is this being done?
Askers are asking multiple questions in AskMe threads
Stop cheating.
Dangerous comment, please delete
This isn't funny. Though I concede that the probability of anyone actually doing it is remote, the comment is nonetheless inappropriate.
Site linked in askme is 404, and I can't find the askme!
Ok, maybe I'm just an idiot...or my google fu is way off...but does anyone remember a post in the last couple of weeks that went to a satire site for a sensual surrogate love lump thing? It was a silly site, and I was going to use it in a column, but the site is now totally 404 and I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the lump in their cache that you could send me? I would ask in the thread...but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
