Another MeFi author sighting

If you read the short story Cat Person in the New Yorker and the NYT interview with author Kristen Roupenian, maybe you wondered what other MeFites thought of it, because it seemed to be right up Metafilter's alley. So did the author. Congratulations to MeFi's Own Sock Person Cat Puppet, who has great taste in sockpuppet usernames, among many other things.

Almost-paywalls, not quite subscription only.

This is just to say that I was disappointed I couldn't access the article linked in this FPP, and the link was essentially the entire FPP. [more inside]

Detynt detente

When crafting a front page post, you may end up using the copy/paste feature of your OS. Some web sites are using Tynt to track copying and insert links and other useless info into your clipboard. John Gruber discusses the annoyance that Tynt causes and how to cut it off at the start.

"Please read the link" callout

Metafilter fascism: Please click on the link at least once *before* filling up the thread with stupid comments. In this case, the poster (matteo) merely quotes pieces of a work of fiction before delmoi and TargetPractice jump in with knees in full-jerk mode.

One link articles from popular periodicals

What's up with all of the one link articles from popular periodicals?

Too many New Yorker links?

New Yorker Filter? I've noticed a fairly steady stream of posts to New Yorker articles. Now, I love the New Yorker, but I also like other periodicals. People finally seem to have topped posting Onion articles to the front page. Perhaps an end to NY FPPs would also be nice. Or am I totally bonkers?

Any of you'se bloggers catch the cartoon in the current online New Yorker yet?

Mind if I journal? Any of you'se bloggers catch the cartoon in the current online New Yorker yet? Oh, rats! They changed it already... It was a picture of a post-coital couple in bed: him to the left lying on his back smoking a cigarette, her on the right, turning to her PDA on the nightstand and looking over her shoulder and asking that question... Well, it may still be there somewhere: try hitting refresh.
