So that interest doesn't flag...

"Chatfilter" is not one of the reasons included in the drop-down flagging menu on ask.me and I think it should be.

Deja vu

Apologies if this has been asked.... I sometimes see new AskMe postings appear that I *know* I've seen before. [more inside]

Waiting is not an option.

Telling anonymous to wait to test when they have specifically requested pre-birth paternity testing methods does not "help in finding an answer". [more inside]

Privacy or Criminal Activities?

It seems like there have been several questions lately about how to do things that make it easy to do illegal things or hide one's identity generally in a way that does not seem to have a legitimate purpose, or at the very least seems to only have a vague "I want to avoid harassment" or "I want to protect my privacy" purpose. What gives? [more inside]

Can I ask you a question?

I propose that a new flag be added to AskMe posts: "OP has shown that he/she does not have a genuine interest in getting this question answered."

AskMe formatting wonkiness

Regarding the AskMe RSS feed formating - Currently there is no line break between the question and the [more inside]. Sometimes this makes for an odd run-on and repetitive paragraph that isn't what the poster intended. Since screen real-estate isn't a problem in the feed, might the powers-that-be consider throwing a paragraph between these sections? I use google reader but it's also formatted the same way in bloglines if this helps.

Boooooooooobs.

Hey, you know how I'm apparently your friendly neighborhood irrational/uptight/bitchy feminist? Well, my Batsignal is going off. 'Cause I'm bitchy/uptight/irrational/out to ruin your fun. And I don't like conversations that are all about the hilarious inevitability of adults ogling some lady's rack. [more inside]

Rocking Homelessness?

I'm uncomfortable that this "How Can I Be Homeless?" question was approved. Seems to me this person should not be helped to pursue a course of action that is not only dangerous but which will almost certainly involve his making use of resources intended to help people who truly have nowhere to turn.

This is not the answer you are looking for.

Is using the "best answer" function to clarify the original question or to offset the OP's own comments from the pack really the best use of that feature?

Nothing and Nthing

Whence Nthing? Isn't the word "seconding" meant to include multiple votes of support? Is this something peculiar to Ask Metafilter?

Translate ReadMe int CheckMeOutFromLibrary

I seem to remember that in the wake of this question someone mentioned (on MeTa, I think) putting all the books that appealed to them into an Amazon wishlist. They were then able to use some sort of tool that exported it into a format useful for taking it to their public library. Does anyone remember this posting? I tried to search for it but my googleFu blah blah blah...

Why was my reply to post 78716 removed? All I did was complete the quotation used by the original poster. It was from the Young Ones TV program. I really am not a fan of censorship, and AksMefi is not where I expect to encounter it. [more inside]

Line Break Issues in "Preview"

It's pretty annoying that inserting carriage returns shows line breaks as typed in the "preview" window, but the final result is breakless (after all, what's the point of the preview?). I've had unpredictable results manually adding "BR" tags and "P" tags...they seem to sporadically interact with the typed carriage returns and yield vast white space. If anyone can point me to a workaround, I'd be appreciative. But, really, it'd be fitting if postings posted per the preview, no?

AskMe feature suggestion

I think it'd be cool if when posting as anonymous on AskMe, you had the option to provide a separate password which would let you log in as anonymous just for the thread you're creating and post comments. The main benefit is that it would allow responders to ask for more information. The main risk I see is that someone could out themselves by accident if they forgot to log in as anonymous before commenting...

Just wanted to call attention to an AskMe that really takes you on a roller-coaster ride -- opening with sadness, stopping off at beauty, providing lots of warm fuzzies throughout, stopping off for a surprising dollop of disgust on the way to inexplicable hilarity (ymmv), and ending up being a great reference point for anybody in a relationship.
