MeFi is adding titles
We're rolling out titles to the front pages of Ask, MetaTalk, and MeFi today (all the other subsites have titles on their front pages). In addition, we've revamped the posting pages on those subsites in order to make the title more obvious and prominent (along with improved helper text). [more inside]
Best of Blog launch is a go
Announcing the Best Of Blog! The very best bits of MetaFilter, updated a couple times a day (sideblog posts automatically go to it instantly, sometimes they expand into bigger posts). [more inside]
SOPA/PIPA blackout
We are putting up a black interstitial about SOPA/PIPA for the next 24hrs or so. If you click away from it, you'll get a cookie stored so you won't see it again in the same browser, but what follows is my reasons for doing it. [more inside]
Memories in the corners of the site
Memmmmmories.... For MetaFilter's upcoming 12th anniversary we're collecting stories to put on a special new site unveiled on the magic day. Your task is simple: tell us how you found MeFi and what your favorite memory is from the site. Submit your answers here. Thanks! [more inside]
Lend me your ears
I just set up a group for MeFi members over at NeighborGoods, a virtual lending library of "stuff" site. In the continuing tradition of not reinventing the wheel around here, I'm opting to use an existing service to help people share their belongings with other members, so have at it, sign up and list your things. Dataviz ahoy!
While I'm not a fan of the plethora of infographics available online these days (and lame SEO attempts to capitalize on them), I decided to make a tongue-in-cheek infographic for MetaFilter, and as everyone behind the scenes at Team MeFi scrambled in the last week to gather up all the interesting statistics we could, I threw it all into photoshop to produce this: The 2010 Year In MetaFilter Infographic. Enjoy!
Shirts for sale! Get your shirts!
Pre-ordering is officially open for "I [+] MetaFilter" shirts! Order today, until "Cyber Monday" (Nov. 29th) when we will close up the orders and start printing shirts. They will ship in mid-December and should arrive to US addresses in time for xmas. International orders may take a bit longer but should arrive around the new year or shortly after. (Previous discussion of proposed shirt designs/orders)
New ads coming to MeFi (yes, for users, but only on the front page, and hideable)
New ads from The Deck will start showing up on front pages tomorrow, but don't worry, you can turn them off. [more inside]

New shirts for sale
New shirts in the Shop! We added the classic blue on a regular cut t-shirt, for only $10. I also added the "Ride More" shirt for cyclists among us. We still have tl;dr shirts in most sizes. [more inside]

Weeee're back
Ugh. Ok, we should be back now, mostly working. I'm sure there are lots of little things I need to fix and I'll try and get things going over the next couple days.
monkeyfilter meetup photos
Ok, I'll admit it, MonkeyFilter is better than MetaFilter because their meetups have two things MetaFilter meetups rarely, if ever, have: actual living, breathing females and Wendell!
Mathowie backs up MeFi
Success! (I think)
Thanks to some in-person help, I remotely did a backup of the old, corrupted hard drive's web folders and deployed everything onto the new drive. Now that everything's back up, it all seems to be working again (disturbingly smoothly if I must say). If you find any problems, let me know here.
