London Mefites: I'm in the city until mid-June or so, and then it's back to the old US of A. It'd be great to have another meetup sometime before then. I've got a couple of centrally located gigs coming up - at the Betsey Trotwood on May 16th and at the Slaughtered Lamb on May 30th, both close to the Farringdon tube stop. I may also have one or two TBA in June. I'd love to see some of you folks at those, but they're both Tuesday evenings, and I don't want to come across like a total self-linker, so I'm open to other ideas as well, though I'm not well-acquainted with many central London drinking locations. So, what do you say, lads and lasses? posted by ludwig_van at 12:57 PM on April 26, 2006
Also note that both of the above gigs are a direct result of my AskMe question. Thanks, MetaFilter! posted by ludwig_van at 12:59 PM on April 26, 2006
Weeknights are difficult for me (and probably most people who are further out, but I may be the only one who bothers to come). I was thinking of coming into town on 17 June for Trooping the Colour. Maybe that night? posted by grouse at 1:04 PM on April 26, 2006
grouse, I'll actually be flying home on either June 16th or 17th, so that probably won't work for me, unfortunately. posted by ludwig_van at 1:39 PM on April 26, 2006
So, London meetup? Eh? Eh?
Eh? Eh? Sounds more like Canada. posted by jonmc at 1:46 PM on April 26, 2006
Hey, keep up the wisecracks and you'll get no more drunken shoutouts, yeah? posted by ludwig_van at 1:53 PM on April 26, 2006
oh, all right.

What exactly are discussed at Mefi Meetups?
You know, beer, and music, and Web 2.0 and stuff. posted by ludwig_van at 6:26 PM on April 26, 2006
We usually have our sock puppets with us and and drink pink beer. At least in London. posted by keijo at 9:13 PM on April 26, 2006
Oh, and sometimes dodgygeezer brings his wonderful wife and we don't know what to say anymore. posted by keijo at 9:14 PM on April 26, 2006
I didn't make it to your last gig in the end - sorry - so I'd be keen to come along to either of the two ones you've got left. posted by greycap at 10:25 PM on April 26, 2006
I also missed at the last minute and would like to come this time. posted by allen.spaulding at 3:29 AM on April 27, 2006
So, no other suggestions then? I suppose I'll post a reminder about the Betsey Trotwood shindig then and hope people turn up. But I'm still up for anything. posted by ludwig_van at 3:35 AM on April 27, 2006
Lud, I'm leaving too. Let's try to do a meetup in May? posted by k8t at 3:42 AM on April 27, 2006
Pitcher and Piano(s) are nice and let you book areas of the bar for free. posted by k8t at 3:43 AM on April 27, 2006
The Betsey Trotwood is really close to my work, so I'd be happy to pop along. What time's kick off? posted by MrMustard at 6:33 AM on April 27, 2006
Doors are at 7:30, we're on around 8. Then two other bands will play and I will get drunk. If you're planning on coming, I can put you on my guest list for a one pound door discount. And you can check out my site if you'd like to know what you're in for. posted by ludwig_van at 6:53 AM on April 27, 2006
I'll do my best to get there, but am due to have surgery on 4 May so might not be fully mobile by 16 May. But I'll be there if I can. posted by essexjan at 10:15 AM on April 27, 2006
We need to have a Cambridge meetup, allen.spaulding! posted by grouse at 11:39 AM on April 27, 2006
I might be able to make May 16th. I'll put it in my diary.
Be sure to remind everyone nearer the time though. posted by dodgygeezer at 12:17 PM on April 27, 2006
I love the Betsey. I believe I shall try to come to your excellent entertainment. posted by flashboy at 4:10 PM on April 27, 2006
Only just saw this- I'm travelling a lot in May but if I'm around, I'm in. Let me know when you decide on a date. posted by blag at 3:56 PM on April 28, 2006
Any time not in the next 2 weeks is awesome (I'm in Vancouver) so yeah I'll be there, again) posted by public at 5:58 PM on April 28, 2006
I would be tempted to go but I fear I'd hate everyone. And besides, Farringdon is such a shithole. I much prefer Shoreditch. posted by movilla at 6:38 PM on April 28, 2006
