Massive slowness throughout mefi.

Is anybody else experiencing 2-5 second load times for every single action on mefi? It's happening to me across all of the subsites.

My raw ping times are on the order of 70ms. Although somebody who doesn't live out in the boonies might have different results.

I know we're in transition. I'm not irate or anything. Just reporting performance issues.

This is addressed in the thread below. Things should be speeding up.

Yep, things are going to be shaky for a little while as everyone's DNS settings are updated.

Seconded. Now all that needs to come back online is the site text search capabilities (not this search-MeFi-by-Google shit) and I'll be a totally happy chappy.

Remember, if you ever see metafilter from the future, don't post anything because even the tiniest comment on MeTa can alter the server in ways you can't imagine!

cortex : I'm hoping for a pluperfect.

Right, but since there is a chance that time travel is involved, we have to rely on Dr. Dan Streetmentioner's Time Traveler's Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations, so what I think we'd be looking for here might be; Future Semiconditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional. (Though, to be honest, I didn't read past that page, so there might be something more fitting in later chapters).

Only Metatalk is working for me. For Mefi and AskMe all I get is the "It works!" graphic when it most certainly does not work.
posted by schyler523 at 10:28 AM on February 6, 2009

Now it works intermittently. Maybe I should take this as a sign to get more work done.
posted by schyler523 at 10:29 AM on February 6, 2009

"It works" is in your cache. Next time you see it, try a Shift + Refresh. That should get rid of it.
