Which location will be noted for having the latest-starting MetaFilter 10th anniversary celebration?

It says July 17th - 19th. What I want to know is which one is the latest starting MeFi anniversary celebration? The last one to begin to close out the holiday? (Note: This is not to say the latest running, as I realize some may turn into week-long bacchanalias of epic 10th anniversary, in-joking proportions.)

I'm guessing this one will still be going strong a month from now.

We start at 4 PM Sunday, but that'd be easily beaten by anyone to the west of us all the way to the dateline.

I'm a little bummed that we Mainers (and any Maritime Canadians) didn't consider sunrise meetups on Friday just so we could start the ball rolling across North America.

I'd join in any sunrise meetup Friday if it comes together

Looks like the latest starting one in the world is Milwaukee.

Also, the first one appears to be London on Friday night.

Looking at the list, it appears to be Tuscon, AZ, starting at 11 PM UTC (4 PM local time) on July 19. Honolulu and San Diego are further west, but for some reason they're starting early — 12 noon and 11 AM local time, respectively, or 10 PM and 6 PM UTC.

Crap, vacapinta is right — I missed Milwaukee, starting at 0:00 on July 20 (UTC). Looks like Tuscon is the second-latest, though, and Honolulu and Montréal are tied for third.

Correction: Hong Kong is first not London. Although London is still the first "big" meetup (i.e. more than 2-3 people)

Yeah, Monday is going to suck.

Tucson might reclaim that crown if we move it til 7:00 to take advantage of beer cheapness.
posted by lizjohn at 9:40 AM on July 15, 2009

Technically you only need to move it to 5:01, though you might not get cheap beer that way.

True, but the happy hour starts at 7. Maybe Tucson and Milwaukee will battle it out so see who can keep the party on the longest. The meeting place closes at 11 - but we'll just have to get it to the streets!

On the low-attendance end, Prudhoe Bay and South Pole are understandable. But Buenos Aires?

(Let me guess, the Buenos Aires meetup will actually have a whole bunch of people, but they're all claiming to be at the Appalachian Trail meetup.)

Ah-HA!

But Buenos Aires?

There's an Orkut meetup the same night?
