The outage is a half-hour longer in India than elsewhere in the world?

Thanks for the advance warning! I'll save a static version of the front page and recent activity page that I can load into my browser every 3 minutes during this window of downtime.

and just what the hell am I supposed to do between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM? Sleep? There's a global pandemic going around, you know! I'm a bit on edge.

Joking aside, good luck with the move. I hope it goes smootly.

Yeah, I don't think a global pandemic is the time to do this. Please provide instructions for how to do what aubilenon said, at the very least.

Cool - good luck. Do we need to bring a server-warming gift when it comes back up? Or a server-cooling gift I guess.

Also, is any of the prep work why the Infodump is currently giving a 403 for me? More accurately everything on stuff.metafilter.com and status.metafilter.com is giving a 403.

The status.metafilter.com site being unavailable is of course an indication that we should have a metastatus.status.metafilter.com site.

Would it be too much trouble for you to post GMT times? Not all of us are in one of the zones listed.

I calculate that it will be 17-04-2020 @250 beats to @375 beats on Swatch Internet Time if that helps at all.

Closer to the Himalayas, which because of their size, places a corresponding distortion on time/gravity.

I started thinking about how to do it, and realized that the easiest, most reliable way is to just take a screen shot.

Do you get to scale down the six feet social distancing rule for them? I mean if its hamsters, do you enforce 5 inch separation or so, or is it still six feet? Do you enforce masks (or muzzles)?

Assuming the new AWS account is also in the AWS us-west-2 region in Oregon, I seem to remember most of their data-centers are along the Columbia River. Can the animals therefore be river otters? River otters are cool.

The rule is number of feet Γ— 3. Thus humans should do physical distancing of 6 feet, hamsters 12 feet, and millipedes should stay about 0.56 miles away from other millipedes.

To be fair, I had never heard of these names for time zones either and it was not very easy to look up which is which. I've heard of GMT and UTC, but not these.

During the outage, visiting Metafilter resulted in a Chrome security warning. The status page was being served on metafilter.com but with a SSL certificate for mefi.us.

MetaFilter (1999-) is the text iteration of Animal Crossing (2001-) and has been for a long time.

Lobstermitten is Reese. Taz is Isabelle. Frimble is Resetti. Eyebrows McGee is Blathers. Good News for the Insane is Kapp'n. Restless Nomad is Katrina. Vacapinta is Pascal. Jessamyn is Rover.

And Cortex? C'mon; so obviously K.K. Slider.
