Madison/Upper Midwest meetup. Is there any interest in this?
Also, let's establish a date/time. Weekends aren't the best for me, but I can make arrangements if that's the only time people could make it.

The Plaza is fine with me. The end of this week would be fun, too. Friday?

Why weekends are generally bad:
posted by rocketman at 11:41 AM on September 9, 2002
- The Plaza will be a crowded mess on Friday.
- I normally spend weekends with my daughter. I'm reluctant to hire a babysitter so I can drink with folks from a website.

I'm pretty unreliable when it comes to attending these things, but, yeah, if something were to happen in Madison, I'd try to get my ass there.

Living in Milwaukee's East Side..... so close, yet so far

All right. Let's just try to agree on a location. Plaza? Or the Lava Lounge?
Any time during the week is okay for me. I get off work at 7, and any time after that is fine. Probably I have the easiest and most predictable schedule of anyone here, and I don't have any kids, and I stay up late every night. So, someone else make a decision about the date and time. Anywhere near downtown is fine.
Steve_at_Linnwood: come on down. There's a parking lot behind my apartment, and it's relatively safe to sleep in.

I'll throw in a maybe; I might be moving to a suburb of Minneapolis in the next month or so. Tho it'd be cool to do a Minneapolis meet-up, Minneapolis --> Madison isn't that terribly far to drive.

rocketman and interrobang -- I would love to join you in Madison, but I too am a Milwaukee East Sider, so it's a bit far to go for a pint on a weeknight. (Hmm. Maybe Steve_at_Linnwood and I should just pop off to the pub.) I was going to get in touch with the two of you for a little impromptu MeFi bonding last time I was in Madison, but time ran out on me. Maybe next time.
And Steve, there are others of us over here in Milwaukee. Maybe we can convince them to come out and play.

The Plaza is fine with me, but I'd go damn-near anywhere.
Some other places we might try:
The Great Dane (I know, everyone goes there. On a weeknight, it would be tolerable.)
The Essen Haus/Come Back Inn
Le Tigre Lounge
Cue-nique
Cafe Montmartre
Steve_at_Linnwood, aine42: Yes, come on up! I work with folks who commute from Milwaukee every day. I'm sure we could arrange a place for you to crash, if that was an issue.

This weekend stinks for me. I've got people coming to town. Thursday's all right though.

All right. Several people have expressed an interest in Thursday. So, if anyone can't make it Thursday night, say so.
Is the Plaza all right with everyone? How about this:
The Date: Thursday, Sept. 12th
The Place: The Plaza
The Time: 8:00 p.m.
The Goal: Drinking, argument.
Also, I have a fold-out futon in my living room. Anyone coming in from out of town is free to spend the night. A cat will sit on their face in the morning, and bat at their feet all night, but they can use the futon.
Any objections?

No, as long as you treat her like a lady.
Amended for scheduling conflicts that affect a suspicious number of us here in madison:
Plaza.
9:00.
Thursday.
again, is this all right with everyone?
