Saturday night at 8:00 I'll be at Clinton's Tavern (693 Bloor West: SW corner of Bloor & Clinton in Toronto) for a shindig put on by a new lit mag (The Shore Magazine). There's an $8 cover, but you get a magazine and some live music (The Chords, Flynns [nee Mausim], The Pauls, and DJ Richard Perri.) posted by Shane at 9:08 AM on November 4, 2004
By the way, this trip has nothing to do with my desire for alternate citizenship, but I'll consider any reasonable offers ;-) posted by Shane at 9:56 AM on November 4, 2004
I can't make it, alas. I have guests coming to dinner at my place Saturday night. posted by orange swan at 12:04 PM on November 4, 2004
Sounds like fun...I might go just to see the launch of this mag. Here's the magazine's address. Took me a couple minutes on Google.
Also, I've never been to Clinton Tavern.
(And I should participate more here. Despite all that I might go to a meet-up like this, because the general awkwardness of meeting people I don't even know on the Internet and who are likely quite a bit older than me is mitigated by an actual event) posted by Gnatcho at 12:16 PM on November 4, 2004
I'm free for coffee or wandering around Queen St or something Sunday too, but I don't do the cell phone thing, otherwise I'd give out my number to anyone interested. I'll check my e-mail, though, or else I'll e-mail a pnone number where I can be reached to anyone interested.
The Shore seems to be a really cool bunch, Gnatcho. I forgot to link to the mag. Hope to see you there! Just ask for Shane, as the Shore editor is a Shane too, heh.
Good deal, Dr J. orange swan, you're such a quintessential MeFi Canuck, I'm sorry I'll miss meeting you. posted by Shane at 12:37 PM on November 4, 2004
Aren't you in Toronto occasionally, Shane? Call a meetup any of those times. I was able to go to both the other two T.O. meetups we've had, so the odds are good. posted by orange swan at 4:56 PM on November 4, 2004
