Newsfilter with a Crystal Ball: Return to Flight and Jerry Lewis Telethon ... not to mention that Newsweek might nail Karl Rove tomorrow. Don't we get enough current events here without having to post about things that might happen in the future?
I thought that whole Karl Rove thing was from last weekend. Am I living in a time warp? Or did it not happen last week so now it's rumored to happen again? If it was predicted to happen last week and didn't, why post that it might happen this week?
Sometimes I'm glad I don't follow the news...

new trend? really?
People want to talk about news. It's going to happen unless some sort of administrative action like aggressive deletion or the creation of news.metafilter.com is taken.

But this is like... not news yet, but like... Tomorrow's News, or a few days from now...

My personal favorite jumping-the-gun post was the one announcing the first Jackson verdict before anyone knew what the verdict was. (The CNN link has since been updated.)

You had better prepare yourself for RoveFilter. If Rove committed a crime or not is besides the point. Some people think they smell blood and this will be the talking point du jour for a while.

Steve_at_Linnwood : "this will be the talking point du jour for a while."
If it's a while, shouldn't that be "talking point du while"?

Thanks for posting this, anastasiav. I had exactly the same reaction and am glad to see I'm not alone. What the fuck, people? This isn't about "NewsFilter," this is about "there's gonna be news one of these days, so I want to jump the gun and get my name on the front page now!" Just stop it, OK? There's plenty of actual news out there, if you like that sort of thing.

As a long supporter of newsfilter, I agree with anastasiav and languagehat with speculative posts such as these. - luv m

I predict that, in the future, there will be more MetaTalk posts about this topic.

I anticipate being offended by this post once it is actually created.
