spoofer spoofed spoofing September 30, 2001 3:34 PM   Subscribe

So would This be considered a bug or a diabolical feature? I believe that what kchristidis did was copy the source for a previous comment into the top of his comment making it appear as though Meg posted a comment she didn't post. Is it even possible to prevent something like that?

yeah, it's easy to prevent. I'll implement it soon.

Perhaps I don't have the right to know, but could someone explain this "bug"? All that happened was that the middle of a thread appeared....

I don't want to alarm anybody, but I just wet my pants. Somebody please get me a wash cloth. No, I'm serious. I feel damp and uncomfortable.

That make it any clearer to you Paris?

After working on the problem for several hours, I've finally given up. There's just no way to prevent users from spoofing other users (namely, celebrities). I guess we'll just have to trust in the honesty of the community.
Ktheory, anything you want to add?

Gee Matt, thanks for asking. No, I'm all set. Nothing to add here.

As long as spoofers continue to forget to close their div tags, it should be fairly easy to catch them. :-)
