I probably shouldn't be able to mark my own comments as fantastic.

Why not? It'll balance out with me always marking your comments as "noise".

Meh, on rare occasions people figure out the answer to their own problems and it's useful. Have you seen any actul abuse, or are you objecting the the feature in theory?

actual abuse
objecting to the feature

It's my understanding that flagging delivers to the admins not just the content of the flag but the user who flagged it, no? If so, it would be pretty hard to abuse this without flagging yourself as someone asking for a timeout or worse.

Oops, I read the question wrong. Sorry. soyjoy's right.

Here's an example where I flagged my own answer as best.

Marking your own answer as best is okay, flagging one of your own comments as fantastic is silly.

What diffrence could it possibly make? Other then train the admins to ignore your flags.

But its still okay for sock puppets to mark their regular account's FPP's as fantastic, right? Right? Oh shit.

I think this is the problem with being able to mark your own posts as fantastic.

*shrugs*

Someone will abuse it. They'll be called out. There may or may not be an administrative fix at that time.

And we wept, precious. We wept.
