Damn, that was fun.

Beer was had, crazy drunken British boys wandered in, photos were taken.

There were shoutouts, many many shoutouts.

There were rock'n'roll shoes.

Way to go, T.O!

Only seven pics? There's gotta be more out there...
posted by Zack_Replica at 9:20 PM on June 28, 2006

I was planning on coming. Honest.

I went to see Masada. Ticket says 'Doors at 6:30'.

7:30 I'm still standing on the street.

8:30 I'm sitting my chair but not a note has been played.

I get out at 9:45. I grab a bite, it starts to rain, I figure you've left the patio and I'd scoot west for no reason.

I was planning on coming. Honest.

Yeah the rooftop patio was closed, and us smokers were rained on a bit, but a good time was had by all...you missed out Dobbs!

I was there, even if there is no photographic evidence of this.
posted by Capn at 9:59 PM on June 28, 2006

Capn, there is evidence...after you left, we collected fingerprints and DNA. Your clone will be ready in 4-6 weeks.

Is T.O. really an accepted abbreviation for Toronto?
posted by Plutor at 3:20 AM on June 29, 2006

Unofficial, but accepted by many, yes. (Wikipedia link with list of names for Toronto.)
posted by easternblot at 5:07 AM on June 29, 2006

Aww, dobbs... we were there until 11!
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 6:16 AM on June 29, 2006

Seven photos? Pfff. In NYC, they have seven photos of the street outside, just to set the mood. They have seven photos of a single beer mug. Torontonian pikers!

I had a good time at the meet-up. And I don't think my civilian friends thought y'all were too terribly strange.
posted by jacquilynne at 7:41 AM on June 29, 2006

There will be more. Capn had a laptop + webcam, and RobotJohnny had a camera with him. elizard had a FILM camera (remember film?) so that might take a while. But there's definately more.
posted by easternblot at 7:42 AM on June 29, 2006

Here are the photos from my camera...

It was a fun night... looking forward to the next meet-up, now that I finally made it to one!

That's more like it. So what's the rabbit's username? When evaluating his comments it will make a difference to me to know he's a lagomorph.

Note to self: head up to Toronto soon. There are some good looking people there! : )
posted by SisterHavana at 8:24 AM on June 29, 2006

Well, shit. I couldn't make it because I had my quota of nights out on tuesday for another thing. But I'll try again some other time. Looks like fun.

Plutor writes "T.O. really an accepted abbreviation for Toronto?"

Yes, just like NYC the people who think they are the centre of the universe in Canada can't be bothered to write the full name of the city.
posted by Mitheral at 8:40 AM on June 29, 2006

Yay Robot Johnny. Lets get a roll call: Who are these people.
posted by Mitheral at 8:44 AM on June 29, 2006

Hey Arr-Jay, where's the one with all my shout-outs?
posted by Capn at 8:49 AM on June 29, 2006

Mithereal, I added the roll call! Capn -- oops, somehow forgot about that one! Let me upload it...

No, we just can't spell.

Capn -- unfortunately for some reason that picture just came out black, which is why I missed it.

Blast!

In the roll call, the non-MeFite next to me is my boyfriend, Mike.
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 9:13 AM on June 29, 2006

He's a non-Mefite? I don't approve of mixed marraiges.
posted by jonmc at 9:17 AM on June 29, 2006

It's guilt by association; he fits in just fine.

Think of the children, dirtynumbangelboy, the children!

Don't have any of those yet. I do keep trying to get him pregnant, though.

If at first you don't succeed!
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 9:56 AM on June 29, 2006

Goddamn, that was fun. What a great bunch of people. And Capn is indeed as cool in person as online, so there.

I ♥ Toronto!

Hm. If anyone would know, it's you guys. I'm going to be in TO overnight between flights. Is there a casino I could get to from the airport (The International one) to play poker for a few hours to pass the time? I have something like 10 hours between flights.
posted by ODiV at 12:56 PM on June 29, 2006

The nearest casino to the airport is probably the one in Niagara Falls. It's about an hour and a half drive away and you'd need to rent a car. I have no idea if they run poker games all night, though.
posted by jacquilynne at 1:09 PM on June 29, 2006

I've heard there are usually poker games in Chinatown (downtown Toronto), but they're probably not the sort of games you can a) drop in on, or b) would want to.
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 1:38 PM on June 29, 2006

So where was Orange Swan?

I am disappointed.
posted by Danf at 4:27 PM on June 29, 2006

She was there.
posted by jacquilynne at 4:38 PM on June 29, 2006

I have no idea if they run poker games all night, though.

They sure do in Niagara, and at Casinorama, North of Toronto in Orillia (about equidistant). If you drive fast, from the airport, you could be playing poker within 45 minutes in Niagara. As long as you call ahead and get yourself on the list. Lots of 2-4 and 5-10 games, and $50 no-limit games.
posted by loquax at 5:24 PM on June 29, 2006

I bet there is a bus from the airport to Casino Niagara. There are Casino buses from lots of other places around the city..
posted by Chuckles at 7:34 PM on June 29, 2006

There seem to be some pics that got lost in the shuffle, but Orange Swan was indeed present.
