Here's a fun game I played today: Pick four MeFites and describe your mental picture of them when reading their posts.
Doesn't count if you've actually seen their picture (i.e. NickDouglas). In fact, no one is allowed to talk about NickDouglas in this post. It's a rule. For my game.

I'll go first.
1. Quonsar: Perhaps some sort of massive, hyper-intelligent, soulless AI.
2. ParisParamus : Neatly dressed, clever, short.
3. dios: Large hispanic man. With accent.
4. jonmc: Wicked sweet, metro dj type guy. With big headphones. And orange goggles.

(BTW - didn't mean to post this to bugs. But it'll probably get deleted for being meaningless or silly or something. Ahh. I need rest.)

The point wasn't really accuracy, per se. It was rather my attempt at describing a set of feelings...that coalesce into a picture...in my mind. If I wanted to, I could have just posted any number of the photos I regularly take of you on your way to work, or when you're getting ready for bed, or.... oh...shit.

I know you know what you look like. And I don't. This is a chance for me to peek into your brains.

amberglow: Robbie Robertson in The Last Waltz
quonsar: Philip Seymore Hoffman in Almost Famous
y2karl: Taylor Nichols in Metropolitan, only 40.

No offence intended, and I hope none taken. I'm just going by how the voices sound in my head.

On preview: so it's a repost from last summer. There's a lot of new folks, and this game could be good enough to do once a year.

OmieWise: so smugly self-satisfied in his "self-actualization" through successive immersion in Reiki, therapeutic screaming, past-life regression, neo-Buddhism, and Anthony Robbins that he is in danger of disappearing into his own navel. And yet always eager to button-hole you about how his "spiritual journey" changed his life, and could, oh yes! change yours! For only a nominal hourly therapy fee.

Pretty_Generic: I just can't get his big-headed German whore out of my mind.

I always imagine wendell sounding a bit like Dr. Demento. matteo I imagine sounding a bit like Greg Proops, although he probably sounds more like Marcello Mastroianni. Miguel, of course, sounds like Raul Julia. I imagine orange swan sounding like Alyson Hannigan, and littlemisscranky sounding like Bette Davis after a Sterno bender. y2karl sounds like Alan Lomax. mrbalihai sounds like Wolfman Jack.

I picture Paris as some sort of Lex Luthor figure - bald, fit, extremely well-dressed (possibly able to carry off a white suit), looks evil and ruthless.

I picture dios as somewhat sweaty, a tad overweight, and wearing a a really bad suit. I'm sure this is inaccurate, it's just how I picture him.

I've seen pictures of jonmc, quonsar and probably a good 75 other people on MeFi so it wouldn't be fair to comment on them.

Bonaldi is about 6'2, 210lbs, most of that is still muscle from when he played football in college, although quite a bit of it has since deteriorated into fat. He works at the reference desk in a medium-sized library for a city of roughly 200,000 people, wears very nice striped white shirts and extremely bad ties.

Azazello, a great poster, is 6' even, weighs 180lbs, has a thrusting, purposeful look to him. He is young and clever. His clothing falls within the defined boundaries of good taste, but trends a little towards the flambouyant side of those boundaries.

Weretable and the undead chairs (another good poster with a great name) is a mysterious figure. He is the quintessential goth - completely without realizing it or attempting to be so - in that he spends inordinate amounts of time brooding in a darkened New York City highrise or a darkened shack in Montana. I'm not sure which. Also like many goths he is quite light-hearted on the inside without realizing in any capacity that he is someone else's stereotype.

God this is fun.

Anyways, this is me and my wife veronitron yesterday wishing Jessamyn's mom a happy birthday. I spend 16 completely random hours of any day in a very dark apartment containing eight computers wearing an oversized black Izod bathrobe while playing games or fucking around with OpenBSD/bits of code.

Yay! I'm Galadriel! Random: dirtynumbangelboy looks like a character out of a Neil Gaiman novel — I don't have a particular character in mind, but can't you picture what I mean? He would appear in "Neverwhere", I think.

Melissa May wears a white lab coat and has longish, curly, chestnut hair (and maybe glasses — the sexy-professor type). MJJ is a redhead (but I think I really know that), and I picture her in gypsy skirts. I can't help but see iconomy as the art lady with cigarette that she used to have on her blog. Melissa May's image of plep is purrfect! Vacapinta looks like Inigo Montoya. Matteo is teh hot (because I go for the smoldering Mediterranean types) and I imagine him as a male version of Inessa Armand.

Quonsar I see living in a compound for some reason. He's bald but in a distinguished way and wears hawaiian shirts in an undistinguished way.

I have a strong mental image of jessamyn (has no one mentioned her because everybody actually knows what she looks like?) as tall and thin with trendy, thick-rimmed glasses.

EB as Richard E. Grant? Hubba hubba (yeah, I'm twisted).

I picture dirtynumbangelboy as a Roman or Greek god - short blond curly hair, gorgeous lips, extremely sweet yet you just know he's bad.

The problem with this is that I've seen so many pictures.

madamjujujive looks like the character in Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume who sells the hurricane drops in New Orleans.

Jessamyn is just unbearably cute (in, of course, a good way). That's all I can see when I picture her: blinding cuteness.

Troutfishing looks like Sam Coombes from Quasi.

Wendell looks like that wacky guy who tries to sell books on how to get free money from the government (Lesko? or is that someone more reputable?)

Until I met him, I pictured unclefes looking like, well, uncle fester, and heard all of his extremely erudite posts in that voice. It made for some badass cognitive dissonance.

I also tend to hear Mayor Curley's posts in an expansive Boston Irish brogue and picture him in a top hat chomping on a cigar.

Cold Chef, I always pictured looking like Drew Carey. I wasn't that far off except for hair color.

Until I met troutfishing, I heard his posts in the voice of Shelby Foote, reading a love letter from Col. Beauregard Kissdrivel written at the Battle Of Ft. Wannasemytushee.

I was waaay offon that one.

I am happy to report that languagehat is devilishly handsome in real life and does, indeed, wear hats. And that ever since quonsar posted that .gif of the morbidly obese man sitting naked at a computer, this is what I see when I think of quonsar. Yep. jonmc I always knew would be dark, skinny, and intense. And Miguel-- well, think Omar Sharif in a smoking jacket. Rwar. y2karl I imagine as deeply hippieish, with waist-length hair and a beard and glasses, sitting around in a basement with racks of monitors.

delurking to say that if you imagine me as Linda Rondstadt-as she looks NOW-you wouldn't be too far off.

Stavros I imagine as an only slightly disheveled fellow with a cool accent, holding a perpetual beer bottle.

Miguel, well, I have seen a pic, but he looks like I would expect.

Madamejujujive I see dressed in flowing gypsylike clothes, lots of bangles, and big hoop earrings.

Ethereal Bligh looks like a plumpish professor, only in a shortsleeved plaid shirt instead of a tweed jacket.

I won't describe Wendell, but I will say I am a fan, and that he is way cooler than he thinks he is.

And squirrel, is just fluffy.
