I have my profile set to receive notifications of IRL meetups within 100 miles, but I would also like to get notified about proposed meetups within the same distance. Who knows, maybe adding one more person can shift it from "proposed" to "let's do this thing."

Is it possible to get a memail if there have been date/time/location changes to an IRL event they've RSVP'd to? And as an extension, possibly a notification when a proposed event is confirmed? [more inside]

On the Add a new meetup to the Calendar page ground rule #1 states, Someone proposes a meetup in the gatherings category, people mull over a location and a date. Eventually an actual date and location is proposed, then people start saying if they're coming or not. It would be neat if there were (optional) entry fields for date and location and maybe location URL, and also neat if adding a meetup to the calendar posted a comment or notification in the thread stating all available specific details. MetaFilter gatherings are common, and often planned weeks in advance. In that amount of time, the related threads are pushed off the front page. Is there a system we can work out where they become sticky? Maybe be posted on the sidebar until they happen?

Question #1: Are there any plans for a Mozilla Calendar/iCal plugin which would state the tentative dates for future swaps/meetups?

Question #2: A number of folks (myself included) occasionally visit MeFi/MeTa via PDA; for the sake of those "handheld immigrants", could a downloadable version of the Guidelines be made available for offline viewing?

While I'm aware that MeFi is not supposed to be our own personal mailing list/craigslist/singles bar/whatever, sometimes there's events that warrant attention by the MeFi community -- get togethers, SXSW coordination, etc. It might be nifty to have a MeFi Events section added to MetaTalk where if you were in some geographical area and wanted to host a gathering, or invite MeFiers to yours, you could post something [even a self-link!] there. What do you all think?
