My brain is mush - is there a way we could metafilter metafilter to filter out all the war/terrorism/WTC Attack posts for those of us on information overload. I'm longing for just plain old interesting links and news again

With traffic dying down, is it possible to re-open the front page to members?

What are MeFi's secrets? Are there handy secret pref pages, alternate views, fun hidden special.metafilter.com domains? You tell me.

Does anyone recall the link that lists all the Mefites homepages in random order?

Threatening Overkill perhaps, but I've been digging around the archives of MeFi, and I gotta admit it's staggering. Like maybe it's time for some way to filter MetaFilter? (more to follow)

It'd be really cool to see a graph plotting number of MeFi members vs time. At 4700 members it seems like that number really took off in the last month.

Matt, do you take suggestions for MetaSlogans in the upper corner, or is that solely your doing? I was thinking, "Putting the 'we blog' in 'weblog." Anyone else ever come up with stuff for the Slogans, or am I one of the few that obsessively clicks the refresh button to see them all?

Kottke offers a good critique of online discussions (like MeFi), and he makes some excellent suggestions on how to improve them. He quotes an unnamed source: "The problem with online forums is that those who have very little to contribute participate the most while those with valuable information to share participate the least." Now, let's try to keep the conversation cordial...
