Pony Request: Alumni as contact
There is no classmate or co-alumni sort of option on the contact form. [more inside]
What does a contact do?
More FNG questions: On my Profile page, I see contacts listed. Or rather that people have listed me as a contact. It looks like an addressbook sort of thing. What does this mean? What does a contact do? How are these used? Is there a contact etiquette? I searched the wiki but couldn't find anything (maybe because I couldn't guess the magic keyword.)
Crush isn't Crushing
It was discussed in the Philly meetup thread, but this is the official thread complaining about the fact that the "crush" contact option doesn't seem to work.
Can someone explain 'contacts' for me?
When I look at my own profile, I see this about "contacts":
Contacts: This user doesn't link to any other MetaFilter members. No other MetaFilter members link to this user.
When I look at someone else's profile, I see a button to add that person as a contact.
Have I missed something in MeFi guidelines about contacts? Why would I want to add someone as a contact or have him add me? Is there some benefit to doing that (like an IM channel)?
