Platform/system requirements in video game posts
Many thanks to everyone who makes MetaFilter posts about cool new video games! And one request: When possible, could these posts please include information about which platforms the game runs on? [more inside]
Being kind about framing
Sometimes bad framing can make a discussion instantly go pear shaped. I would ask other users to pause and try to give links at least a cursory read-through before responding to solely what is written on the front page. Especially when your response is overridingly negative. Even a post with bad framing can have content that will generate quality discussion. [more inside]
Ow! You broke MettaFiltter!
I like reddit, and I have an account it, but do single link reddit FPP belong on the blue? [more inside]
Too soon?
Four Posts on the Same Death
After another four times dead post on the home page, I have a little suggestion to people out to FPP that someone is still dead.
One thread for midterm elections day 2006?
Can we have an election day thread? Is that too NewsFilter? I can't think of what would make an appropriate link for an FPP on the blue, but here's the Tradesports lines at least. (Predictions, drinking games, oh yeah, and news/links are probably in order as well.) (And popcorn.)
Occasionally, I am reminded why I shouldn't read the comments here.

I guess I'm soft-hearted or something, but I thought that yankeefog's link was a pretty good one: inspiring, heart-warming, maybe a little fluffy, but it's the holidays. So, after I read the article, I clicked back to the comments and the first half dozen replies are people whining about having to register to read it. Particularly annoying is thirteenkiller's one word dismissal. I'm sure a lot of thought went into that. I mean, what purpose does that kind of post serve other than to make yourself look like a complete dick? Seriously, you have time to dress up your user page with ironic hideously stupid rainbow shit, but you don't have time to swipe a password from bugmenot? Yeesh.

I'm not sure if this would make a good post (it has some truth/relvations in it...)?
trying not to piss community moores here... would this (coupled with a few token links to 'kerry medals fake!" news stories) make an appropriate FPP?
Weak sauce
Blatant front-page troll.
I know you aren't reading that fast
I've noticed (myself included) that comments to a FPP are often posted within minutes, even though the links on the FPP would take a lot longer to read. This means the poster probably did not read the FPP links. One thought to have a comment moratorium period (coded) to encourage the reading of the FPP links before posting. There sometimes seems to be a /. "first post" mentality to get a comment in as quick as possible near the top of a thread.
Too much war posting
Stop the presses! So you're saying that some people support a war on Iraq, and other people don't support a war on Iraq? Crazy! I'll bet that's the first time this has ever been discussed on MetaFilter!
