What were the mods like (on Metafilter) before they were mods? Please point me to notable posts by Jessamyn, Cortex, et al from when they were just some schmo on MeFi like you or me. [more inside]

There seems to be no clear way to contact the administrators for users who are not familiar with the site. Could we add a contact link up in the top nav section, or somewhere obvious?

I'm not completely sure who is babysitting Metafilter while Matt has way more important things going on, but I just wanted to say "Thanks" to whomever is keeping an eye on things and also "Thanks" to the community for (apparently) keeping the chaos to a minimum while he's away.
