Sign my petition! It's generated a big discussion, but I'm thinking that maybe a link to a blog that links to a petition might not be mefi material, especially from someone who has an interest (
1,
2,
3,
4, from the only other thread he's ever participated in) in getting people to go there. If it walks like a self-link and quacks like a self-link...

Should
this really have been deleted for
self-linking? If you could link directly to video segments on CNN, then I'm sure the poster would have done that. Instead, he or she put the segments on his or her site, and linked to them that way. Maybe the post should have been deleted because it wasn't interesting enough, but that's another reason.

I would like to propose that in the event that someone uses metafilter to
blog their own site, a pre-selected jury of their metafilter peers be allowed to enter the offender's domicile and beat the offender's computer(s) into complete submission. I respectfully suggest a Louisville Slugger would be best suited for this, however I have heard that a well balanced ax handle would likely be a competant substitute.
