Seeking FPP about a photographer who chronicled her weight loss online.

I remember a post here on MetaFilter about a photographer who decided to lose weight and, as the artist she is, decided to chronicle her weight loss with an online journal, telling the story in words and in black and white images of her body as she lost weight. She was unaware at the start of her project that she would end up having folds and flaps of skin but she found out pretty rapidly, and regardless that it was painful for her to discover what she did, she kept the journal ongoing. Should we just stop posting topics that involve weightloss issues?

It's weird for me to post one of these about my own FPP. But I have noticed a pattern of every post that discusses weight loss/obesity/medical issues (regardless of the context) devolving into people talking about how yeah, bad stuff happens, but you really should lose weight, you know! And then people describing why no, really, they can't or have trouble, and being generally disbelieved, and it all goes downhill. This is a pointless and unpleasant discussion. But we always end up there instead of discussing the underlying political/sociological issues or what have you. I think there's a lot to be said about healthcare, sexism, and how we treat fat people and fatness in that post. But...that's mostly not what happened.

That's 602.920 US dollars or 420.566 Euros! (thank you, pleasure to entertain you, tip your waiter, etc.)

With the new year around the corner, and recently noticing that Mefites have burned 490,834 calories, traveled 2,364 miles, and lost 378 pounds, I figure it's a good time to ask: Is there interest in some sort of MetaFilter weight loss/exercise challenge? (Meta-fitter? Har. Har. Sorry.) [more inside]

diet.metafilter.com

Pony request: diet.metafilter.com. I do recognize that the stable is pretty crowded already, but I see there's 371 tagged items on ask.mefi for diet questions. Seeing how Something Awful has a pretty busy weight loss forum going and diet is a multi-billion dollar industry, maybe MeFi can figure out some way to bring its great minds together to encourage one another toward weight loss goals and healthy lifestyles. Some basic weight graphs and weight tracking capability could be part of this. I realize this is getting into MeFi mission creep, so consider it just another idea for whenever the right time comes.

Hey, what have you got to lose?

Catfood asked where she could find an intelligent weight loss support group online— a Metafilter for dieters, basically. Ferociouskitty set one up on Spark People. It seemed like a great idea that could use a little publicity.

I'm looking for one or more past AskMe threads

I'm looking for one or more past AskMe threads in which people shared how weight-gain or weight-loss affected the way they were treated by other people. I know I've read these stories, but I'm just not finding them. It's possible that the they were shared in threads that weren't actually about obesity, but how others perceive us. Can somebody with better search skills help me?
