MeFi mod travelingthyme needs help

If you've noticed that moderator travelingthyme has not posted here recently, it's for a grave reason: while on a cross-country move, they were involved in a horrible accident that totaled their car, destroyed nearly all of their personal possessions, and tragically cost the life of their father. Now their friend has organized a GoFundMe to help cover medical bills, funeral arrangements, and replacement of everything from lost family keepsakes to household essentials (if you're in the Boston area, contact the organizer to donate items directly!). If you've found any value in this community in the last few years, travelingthyme is part of the reason why it's able to work -- please give what you can to help them recover from this terrible loss. Should we launch a Kickstarter for Ahmed Mohamed?

Many folks are distressed over the way the school administration and police in Irving, TX reacted when a 14-year-old student of Sudanese Muslim parentage brought a homemade clock to school, and wish there was something they could do about it. How about a Kickstarter to collect a STEM college fund for Ahmed? [more inside]

nonprofit to help people out of a jam

Hey folks, I have a memory of a non-profit that offered small loans (like under $1000) to people to help them get out of trouble. Like, if you are homeless and you have a job but you can't save enough for a security deposit, this group would help you raise the funds so you can get off the street. The funds may have been crowdfunded like Kiva. I'm pretty sure I heard about it on AskMe. Ring any bells for anyone? It's tough to google.

Clarification: Is an active Crowd-Funded post ever okay on MeFi?

I have searched the MetaTalk for this and can't seem to find a definitive answer - apologies if one already exists and I missed it. My question - if something is currently being crowd-funded, but has already met/exceeded it's funding goal - is using it as part of a MeFi post grounds for automatic deletion of the post? Patreon Posts

Patreon is a way of crowdfunding creative workers in an ongoing way (i.e. you commit to paying, say, $5 per completed work). It's a great system, and I've backed a couple myself, but I'm curious how Metafilter will manage it as it becomes more widespread. Because, unlike Kickstarter there might never be an end point to the crowdfunding. Are there any issues with posts relating to Patreon-funded artists? Or are we okay as long as we don't mention the Patreon bit in the post?
