What will we think about and why?

It's chatfilter because "major issues" is objective and undefinable, or if not undefinable, a distasteful acceptance of political groupthink. Well, anywho, it's standing, so let's put discussion here. [more inside]

Kill this Hussein execution thread please

I don't have a problem with Hussein execution FPPs per se, but certainly this one is deletion-worthy?

Why was my post deleted?

I stand (humbly) deleted. Of course, first I went to FAQs. Closest conceivable reason for deletion was - "axegrindfilter - you posted on a hot-button topic that you frequently post about and/or used heavy-handed editorializing language." Still, I don't think my post fit this bill, exactly: no "frequently post about" or "heavy-handed editorializing" to be found, far as I can tell. Was it simply linking to a site about atheism, period? Or to a site containing Jesus' quotations? I'm really curious about this. And hats off to LarryC for being right. I mean that. BTW, I'd link to the post in question, but it seems to have disappeared without a trace. Or maybe I just don't know how to find it?

Buckyballs and deletions

I'm just dying to tell this guy all about Bauersfeld and Snelson. Can I please?

I know we can be catty, but this...

User complaining about comment deletion

My second of two comments made in this thread http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/25241 was removed apparently because I disagreed with someone who was complaining that the tangents related to the discussion were not germane to it (http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/25241#399539).

Of course, since I'm posting this, I disagree with the removal. If this is standard way, we are limiting the involvement of human opinion in Ask MeFi, and end up with nothing more than regurgitation of facts that could probably be gained much better elsewhere on the internet.

Could the person who moderated this clarify the removal?

AskMe poster shoots rabbit?

Fuckwit AskMefi poster wonders if torturing bunny rabbits is a good idea.

Why was this post deleted?

So, was fivefreshfish's post deliberately deleted as a double to taumenson's, or are whole threads disappearing too?

Dangerous comment, please delete

This isn't funny. Though I concede that the probability of anyone actually doing it is remote, the comment is nonetheless inappropriate.

Not just a double, a double invoking the N-bomb is the subject of a deletion request.

Delete this post Matt. Not only is it a repeat of a topic, the N-bomb is used. Totally unacceptable, even if you are a rapper. It still has the same connotation as hate. Still way too soon since the Civil War.

Apparently tjenson has hir panties in a bunch about matt deleting a thread and is now stomping through other metafilter threads ranting about it.

Please delete the link to the Daniel Pearl video

Out of respect for the dead, and in the interest of keeping this community a respectable forum, could Matt please delete the link to the Daniel Pearl video . . . And perhaps place a moratorium on this kind of posting in the future? MetaFilter isn't Stile or Rotten.com, and I'd prefer the site not sink to that level.
