Overriding Alt Keys November 21, 2005 3:42 PM Subscribe
On Projects, when I press Alt+B, instead of getting my browser's Bookmarks menu as on almost every other site, I instead get About MeFi Projects. Personally, I would prefer it if web sites didn't override my existing keyboard shortcuts.
Sorry, I was just reading mathowie saying in the closed thread just below yours that "Projects has had access keys for some time and no-one has complained". So this was just too perfect. That poor guy. I think "may you have thousands of users" should be added to the lists of curses from a few days ago.
Anyway, there's a few open threads about this issue in metatalk, just below yours.

wow, yeah. overriding existing keyboard shortcuts is really dumb. microsoft would get flamed to hell and back if using alt+f4 took you to MSN Messenger or something. oh well, so much for standards.
