Firefox: Not playing well with AskMe? February 6, 2006 9:22 PM   Subscribe

Really not a problem, but I am curious: I click anywhere in AskMe, and Firefox doesn't ever seem to think the page is completely loaded? I get the busy signal cursor, and the Firefox load meter (bottom right-hand in Firefox) never completes, even though it seems like the whole page loads. Buh?

Not seeing it. The almost universal advice on Firefox anomalies: create a new profile, see if it happens in the new profile. (And no, it's not the MetaFilthy extension.)

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the off-site calls to the AJAX spellchecker thing we have these days, or some other remote site that's included (ads, maybe?), but which, for some reason, never quite loads on your computer. Pages not finishing loading even when they all appear to be there have, for me, happened when the browser is having trouble downloading some javascript include. Do you have any firewalls / proxies / ad-blockers you're accessing the web through that might try to block some of these off-site scripts?

Well, what do you know? I logged out and logged in again, and now there's no problem at all.

Thanks, orthogonality and Jimbob!

Ugh. Spoke too soon. Front page of AskMe loads fine, but clicking into any particular thread still has the never-finish-loading thing. Oh well. Like I said, not really a problem, I guess.
