megnut marries April 1, 2006 1:17 PM   Subscribe

I missed the joke pointed out by this post. The flikr 7-day random wasn't all cats when I looked. However, it did net up this pic of a well-known mefiite which will interest many others. (The ones who are most interested, of course, will surely have seen it already.)

caitlinb's cat is the cutest and her photos of him are cool.

Yes, kottke and megnut got married. Woohoo!

Kottke's blog got good again since he went away to get married. Hopefully the micro-payment funded honeymoon will be lengthy and there will be semi-compelling content for all in the coming months.

Now that they're married, do you think Meg will make him get a real job?

Didn't she, like, invent Blogger? I'm sure she won't mind. :)

this pic of a well-known mefiite

She no longer comes here. Didn't you hear?

Ah Metafilterians, with your reactionary rants and inability to read beyond the first line of a post! No wonder all of us narcissistic a-list weblogers stopped frequenting this site years ago... - megnut

Didn't she, like, invent Blogger?

Not really. She was on vacation.

Ev and a colleague, Paul Bausch, built it for fun, and then launched it on the Web one week in the summer of 1999, when Meg was on vacation.

Well, justgary, and isn't that enough all by itself to make megnut a well-known mefiite for good and always?

I sense a certain subliminal tension here but shall just press ahead and paper over it with blythe chatter.

yeah, I was there. It was fun. They still read the site, they just don't participate much anymore.

She's well known (in certain circles) and happens to be a mefite. I doubt most mefites know who she is. She (and jason for that matter) do less than not participate "much". They don't participate at all. So to call them popular mefites is quite a stretch.

Why you made this thread, which obviously shouldn't be here, is known only to you.

Well, justgary, some of us old farts know exactly who she is. Did someone pee in your cornflakes this morning?

Congrats to the happy couple!

yea, the 'who cares/knows who she is' makes me feel old too. Lovely pic. I was somehow under the impression they had broken up but I am always out of the loop. I usually don't even have any idea where the loop is. Anyway, nice to see I was wrong, and also: meg looks hot in that dress.

Yeah, but WPI always talks about how Dean Kamen is an alum, and neglect to point out that he dropped out.

Also, my wife's friend is probably Kim Deal's cousin, and my boss is related to Snoop. And my surname is a dead former president's first name. <— cool guy

I said 'most' people don't know who she is. Some, or you, knowing doesn't change that fact.

And I'm in a great mood. This is just silly. But thanks for being concerned about my well-being. I'm touched.

Why didn't I get an e-vite to the wedding? Don't tell me, they invited the first 100 people to have blogs and I was #103. Or were you afraid Cam Barrett would whip my ass me if we were in the same room? C'mon, that was 1999, he can't still be holding a grudge... Ah, 1999. They were much simpler times.

At least The Bradlandish One is still doing the Best April Fools Page on the Internet.

I'm having trouble getting the whole anti-a-list mojo going with pictures of two happy people at their wedding. Congrats.

I know who she is, and I still don't care. But I had a great dinner and am in a good mood, so I won't even smack Eideteker.

cortex, really funny you should mention that. It's something that gets sugar coated here (WPI country) often. He's now a guest lecturer at WPI, whatever that means. I've attempted to determine what it means by locating a lecture, but he's never in town giving one. Hmmm....

They told me there were vast amounts of contorted bad feelings in blogdom but to objective old jfuller, not being a blogger himself aside from occasional contributions here, these contorted bad feelings have no existence. Silly rabbits.

Hey, I work in that building!

That's the Starrett Lehigh building, I had an office in there too for a while.

The roof and top floor elevator maintenance building was the home of Buckminster Fuller for some time, I've heard.

Freen, do you get out on the roof at sunset much? The east roof was always unlocked, for the spectacular west roof you had to go up the freight elevator or get through the locked hallway door.

sitcky carpet: Almost every day! I'm on the west side, and we have a little porch. I watch the sun set over jersey just about every day (Crazy non-stop hours, god bless the second boom) .

That's really cool about Buckminster Fuller, I'm going to have to go and check that out.

Okay, that was funny.

I still think there's too much hostility with popular bloggers, though.

It's called class, you assholes.

Take your outrage elsewhere. This isn't their wedding guest book. I wish them all the best, as much as I can for two people I have never met. All I'm saying is no one but their friends and those amazed by minor celebs care. Jfuller posted this in a front page post, no one cared. He posted it here, no one cared. Proofs in the pudding.

Plenty of mefites get married, get new jobs, have children. You read it every week in askme. All I'm saying is if we're going to have navel gazing posts about mefites perhaps we should do so with mefites who actually participate (and maybe not look down on metafilter).

but from a new MeFite to two who helped make this place what it is, congrats!
