radio7, rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of the most untimely passing of Radio7 on September 9th. I only met her once, but I was charmed by her humour, talent and vivaciousness.

Canadian, movie lover, liberal, sushi purist, a friend of a lady who kept her uterus in a bottle, and seemingly able to tack on the last comment to a surprisingly high % of the posts she posted in.
(some of these things are inferred and may not be true, some of them are easier to ascertain)

The information I have is that she died of a heart problem in her sleep.

Jeannie was very willful and perceptive, and more often than not her words bore that incisive wit of hers. The first time we met I was very much struck by her, and even more so when she cut straight through all my bawdy snarks and entendres with an unexpectly sharp "You really like me, don't you?" and left me stammering helplessly for a retort. I'll never forgive her for that.

She was just as unexpectedly genuine with her actions, whether it was by taking my friend out for a proper introduction to sushi (he had never tried it before) when he asked her out on a date, or insisting that I accompany her out karaoking to cure my aversion for it (something we never managed to make good on, alas). Or walking into a T-shirt shore and charming the clerk into pouring all of us some whiskey from the clerk's own bottle during one of our weekend prowls out on the town. Or complaining at the bar that my cigarettes were going to force her to wash the reek out of her hair when she got home, but then turning around to buy me another drink anyway. She was quirky, funny, and utterly charming.

I don't know what her last words to me were -- all I can remember is how sarcastically right they were for chuckling over during my hour back on the freeway after leaving her place at 5 in the morning. Likewise, I've been looking over the photos I have of her [1 2 3 4] in resignation about how inadequate they are for capturing her vivaciousness, and how many opportunities I had missed. I wish that she had more time to spend with us, or that I had met her sooner. Or both.

Good-bye, Jeannie. Whenever the weekend traffic slowly hums to life on the LA freeways during the dim early morning I'll be remembering, and maybe some day in the car I'll get right what you had said in parting that morning and you and I will laugh together about our youth again. We miss you.

I wish i had met her--she sounds great. I hate it when any of us die--it's like we should all either be banned or live forever or something.

Thanks DaShiv. Like timeistight I only met her the one time, but she did leave an impression.

I had just been thinking earlier in the day that it had been some time since I had heard from her, and that I should email her.

I knew nothing about her before today, but she really does sound like a great person. I was looking through her old comments, & couldn't help noticing how many were in threads about death... (and then came across a comment she made in the dworkin obit thread directed to me, which felt poignant, I guess just in that we had interacted in this small way.). Did she know about the heart condition?

in any case,
