Video posts and the December competition December 4, 2006 2:23 PM Subscribe
Matt, Jess, could we have a formal announcement that posts consisting entirely of Youtube and Google Video links are automatically disqualified from consideration for December's grand prize? Please, please, please? They're beginning to spring up like crabgrass.
Steven, remember a while ago, when you took a couple of years off from metafilter, and when you came back, you couldn't even remember which login to use?
I wish you'd do that again.

Can we also get a ban on posts that consist of nothing but links to web pages? Because, christ, people, that's what search engines are for.

I think this is a silly request, basically.

Well, I consider myself the pinnacle of normalcy.
Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for me to strip to my boxers and rehearse Arthur's Theme...

I don't think he was asking for a ban. If he was, then I wouldn't agree with him.
My recommendation was for efficiency's sake. Not that they shouldn't be here. But it seems like it would be more efficient to show the youtube search result page instead of linking each one.

Armitage, nice comment. Who else do you not like? You should let us know instead of discussing the subject.

Steven, I answered your question the first time you asked it, in the contest thread.

Because that is all that is going on here. Searching for a particular genre and then dumping the results.
I'll go ahead and plan the next one...
/me searches youtube for "celtic folk music"
/me dumps the results in a list of links
