I assumed the post was sarcastic as in "look at how screwey this thing is"

A little more description would have been nice.

yeah, blogaholics and '24' is way more interesting.
I don't know where you get telemarketing, I didn't see a big appeal for money.

I thought it would have made a good link, but the presentation could have been a lot better. A news article giving background and then the site as evidence that people are using the 'net to fight back would have been a lot better.

Plus, calling people "wankers" doesn't really help your argument.

It's weird, but when you're finaly singled out as a non-wanker, you kind of want to be a regular wanker again.

Brilliant! And if you are indeed a wanker you stop wanking forthwith. That's what solidarity is all about. Can anybody help set up a "Save the MeFi wankers" fund? ;- )

Can we get a tote-board? I've always wanted one.

Wanking is nothing to be ashamed of, nor is being a wanker.

/dancing around my cubicle, singing:

I'm a wanker, he's a wanker, we're a wanker, she's a wanker, wouldn't you like to be a wanker too?

But...getting back to the point at hand: Paul's attitude toward the group is less than admirable and the link itself, while not the worst i've seen (the "24" point is well-taken), leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't seem intended to spur discussion so much as bitter debate. If it weren't such a "good cause", I'd call it a troll.

"Marketing" is not interchangeable with "plea for money," chrismc. I certainly consider the taped "vote for my idiot, because I said so" calls I was getting last week to be telemarketing.

So yeah, it smells just like telemarketing to me: it stinks.

What is the point of posting a link to something that is presumably dear to your heart, on a site where members may make comments, if you respond to an opinion that deviates from your own point of view like this? And what difference does a poster's nationality make anyway?

OT: If you're going to jump around singing about wanking, you might want to consider the definitive wanker song. "I'm a wanker, I'm a wanker, and it does me good like it bloody well should."

Point taken NortonDC, but I'm just saying there are way less interesting and more lame things on the front page that people read and happily post comments to.

And I'm a wanker.

I've been really negative in MeTa, so I wanna take a second to point out a really well executed front page post.

Drink Dr. Wanker? Oh, that's gotta be nasty.
