My Comments have an unclosed tag January 21, 2007 5:55 AM   Subscribe

My "My Comments" page cut off one of my long comments that used a "small" tag, and now everything on that page is in small text. Help?

Not to advocate thread-shitting or noise, but if you have something else to add to the thread, an addendum or some such, that would knock it off.

It's a nice comment, by the by.

This is not a new issue. Just make a short comment with a close-small tag. Sucks, I know.

No, it's an issue that comes up very rarely when a really long filtered comment gets cut off. I'll check the html filtering again to make sure this gets cleaned up.

Also, the suggestion is to make another comment in the thread so the small comment is wiped out from your history page, because only your most recent comment shows up. So no need to try and wedge a small tag in there again.

divabat, lemme know if it's still all small for you. I just added the tag balancer code so that if a tag is opened and gets cut off by the hard 4000 char limit on the output, it'll have a closing tag added automatically so it shouldn't affect other comments below and the rest of the page.

Cool, nice fix. The 'comment again' advice I stand by, but it's nice to have the corrective code in there for the 8 or 9 people who made a comment previous to divabat's long one. Her comment was messing up their My Comments pages too (for a while, at least).

I got beaten to a second comment because I didn't realize what happened till after a couple of people commented after me...

The comment's since scrolled off, but thank you mathowie and all else, it looks balanced now. The tag balancer is a good idea too.
