Are we having a London meetup on the 16th? If so, where?

I'd like to have one. And I'm still a function room fan if others are up for it.

I don't think it'll be hot enough to need a fan.

*ducks*

Why are you ducking? There's no fan to worry about.

Haven't you heard?

Yup!

I was thinking Aldgate. It's got the proximity to Brick Lane and all the assorted trendiness, joys and multiplicious curry places but lacks what are generally termed "the Shoreditch twats". This place is rather decent, otherwise this one is slightly more central to the area.

And once again, AskMe comes up with the goods.

Oh, and I'm happy to follow hugsnkisses' rather decent suggestion of the White Swan. (The other place got bad marks from the Pub Widescreen Sports Campaign, anyway.)

Another vote for the White Swan.

I also vote for the White Swan, because it's dead easy for me to get home from there, and as such I can point and laugh at people from West London. Which I enjoy.

Can't make this Fri - other commitments. Have a good one.

Thanks a lot, flashboy:-) This will be my first London meetup from which I don't just walk home. But yes, the White Swan sounds fine by me and I guess it's about time we ventured further east.

Next question: when shall we meet?
posted by sueinnyc at 11:06 AM on February 12, 2007

Can't make it but have fun all, will try really hard to make the next one (has been a while and I flaked out last time due to a work crisis).

6.30-ish, same as in town before?

White Swan looks good to me. It gets bonus points for being a Shepherd Neame boozer. I'll try and get there for 8ish.

I can now do the 16th. You lucky ducks. White Swan at 8pm. Ten four!
posted by armoured-ant at 3:21 PM on February 13, 2007

Err, armoured-ant, I think it's only me arriving fashionably late at 8. Everyone else is aiming to meet at 6.30.

I'll be there too, and with any luck even at 6:30. Is their food any good?
posted by fvw at 8:22 AM on February 14, 2007

Oh, and I'll probably have the afternoon to kill too, anyone fancy going museuming or something?
posted by fvw at 8:26 AM on February 14, 2007

I just phoned the White Swan, and they have been kind enough to set aside some tables for us from 6:30. They are booked under my name (Daryl).

Sweet.
posted by chrismear at 1:23 PM on February 14, 2007

Thank you, Optamystic.

I'll try to get there around 6:30, but I'll probably be a bit later than that. See you soon!
