A way to circumvent? April 30, 2007 6:10 PM   Subscribe

I recently posted an anonymous question to Metafilter (within the past week). I browsed to the 'New Question' page without thinking about the question limits because I had a new query, but to my surprise the page didn't restrict me from posting. A bug? A way to get around the question limit? Am I shortly going to be shot for pointing this out?

Welcome to the loop, Phire. We know about this already. The rule is: don't be a dick and use it to abuse the system. The admins will notice.

Yeah, we know who asks the anonymous questions. So, if you're using the anonymous questions to get around the posting period, we'll notice. If you really just had a needs-to-be-anonymous question and another question show up in the same week, don't worry about it. If you do it more than once, it's definitely not cool.

er, sorry if that sounded dickish, not enough sleep, you know how it is

I've been wondering about this. The admins can tell who the anon person is? Weird, but I'm glad I know before I asked my terribly embarrassing question.

Yeah, it's not a big deal DU but we have to do that in the case (several times already) when people asked about suicide that were cries for help.

P.S. your case of the clap should be easily treatable, please go see a doctor before your next drag show!

Hahah, no worries nasreddin, didn't notice any unwarranted quantities of snark

Clap never "easily treatable".
Speaking from experience.
Hate Tijuana.

If I had gay sex with another member, should I post it to Metatalk, Ask Metafilter, or email jonmc directly?

Wait, which anon was yours, Phire?

four panels typed "If I had gay sex with another member, should I post it to Metatalk, Ask Metafilter, or email jonmc directly?"

You have to write a song about it.

I would also like to know what was done in such cases.

I believe I recall he said one time he tracked their IP and contacted either them or the authorities. If my memory serves.

What if like hypothetically you were like related to an admin and like wanted to ask a question about how to hypothetically dispose of their freshly deceased body while maintaining their online identity in a popular community based weblog without suspicion?

Bonus points for how I’m gonna keep posting all these songs?
