JavaScript Error Drama September 12, 2007 8:02 PM   Subscribe

favorites.js refers to document.getElementById("fav") which is null. This will lead to error pop-ups on every page for some users. If this is not immediately fixed I will resign my membership in protest.

Hmm, is this new? Nothing has changed in the javascript for at least a couple months.

It may have been there for a while without bothering me. Now my Visual Studio debugger seems intent on leaping in there to protect me with error popups. IE7 on XP. Mozilla doesn't seem to use the script at all, so no problem there.

Well, sure GNFTI, if I had one of those cheap plastic 4-string loots, I'd threaten to drop it, too.

If you're using Visual Studio then annoying pop-ups are the least of you're worries.

For the record, I bet my right hand against JavaScript's lies. Under any amount of torture, he will break first, because he is lying. If I break first, I will surrender my right hand.

A real man would say, "Take a knife, EMRJKC94, and face JavaScript to the death." If they would not say that, they could at least say, "We'll shock both of you with electiricity until JavaScript admits his lies." I would accept either decision.

I just luted all over the place.

But then, I'm a strolling minstrel, so that kinda makes sense.

EMRJKC94, there's got to be a way to disable it. I remember this used to be a huge annoyance for me, but at some point I managed to get rid of those popups (I think by editing the registry and removing one of the "Class" keys that acted as a plugin for the jscript parser).

That, or just stop using IE.

Here's some relevent links. If you need the javascript debugging, use Firefox or Opera with the Java(script) console open.
