I'll be watching you. October 4, 2007 5:18 AM   Subscribe

Hey gang, what are your Twitter usernames? I want to follow more people but can't figure out how to find people who are interesting, funny and/or would link cool things. I know you would. Who are you? I'll post mine as soon as this thread doesn't get closer or deleted.

It's one of the things you can have on your profile (I gots one, but I'm not interesting). Perhaps as a first step towards more things like the recent photos from all page, just a list of "all Mefites with Twitter/Wikipedia/whatever accounts" pages would be useful.

If matt or jess or cortex were feeling extra sweet and cute today, I bet they could change the beginning of this post to "Get together at Twitter?"

Sounds like a mission for pb. We should make a "all mefi users" twitter stream like the flickr stream, but if I remember correctly at the moment their API doesn't have the calls to allow that but it might by now.

I think a compilation of metafilter friendfeeds might be more interesting than an aggregated twitter feed. I've abandoned twitter in favour of updating my Facebook status.

If you need to be encouraged to update: on a Mac, download Twitterific. If you're a PC, download Tweetr. Makes making and getting updates super easy.

Isn't this already on our user pages? I guess then you'd have to go through everyone's profile checking for twittrers (twits?).

It is on our profiles, assuming we put it there. And I think the needing to search is a good thing. That way anyone who actually cares about what I write can go find more easily enough, and anyone who doesn't doesn't need to even think about it (and adding people just because they posted in this one thread seems kind of random to me). But then maybe I'm in the minority in that I look up profiles of people I'm interested in?

(just to clarify, I haven't been adding people to follow because I have very limited and sporadic computer access these days, not because I do or don't care)

It's (sort of) fun anyway.

If anyone's still here, how does the mobile phone feature work internationally? It looks like it's set up to work from the US, UK, and maybe Australia. I tried to add an international number (Mexico) and it automatically wanted me to text a UK number, which would be much more expensive than texting a US number for me. Does anyone know a work around?

muckster, I don't really think that is true. I don't have it enabled on my phone, because all the twit msgs at random hours of the days (and nights) (okay, *esp* nights) is a bit annoying. I only use it thru the web and with twitterific and its just as good that way, too.
posted by thatothrgirl at 7:14 AM on October 5, 2007

I am disturbed by the idea of threads getting closer, like, creeping up on you in the night.
