The liner notes to Brian Joseph Davis' new album contain this thread.
Pretty much verbatim, with a few inside-jokey comments removed.

I think it's only fair that you scan it and post it for us, since he copyed and pasted it from us.

I see great opportunities for copyright lawyers here. Maybe you can pick up some of those the RIAA is laying off.

I'm guessing that if anyone did try to mount a copyright infringement case against BJD, our share of the winnings wouldn't cover the cost of envelopes to send them to us.
I saw him at The Lab in SF a few days ago; he featured at a reading/concert along with various people from Instant City and Small Desk Press. The bad thing was that nearly everyone left before BJD's performance. He ended up doing an "abbreviated version," in which he introduced and played ten-second samples of cuts from his CD, and then read the last sentence of his book.

BJD obviously has an excellent sense of humor and I violated my own orders with the unmarked sarcasm above.

Yeah, we (MefiMusicians) have been saying this to you people for years, but it takes an outside artist for you to notice it. Geez. How about you go to Mefi Music, comment all over the place and see if it makes it to somebody's next liner notes?

wendell typed "BJD obviously has an excellent sense of humor and I violated my own orders with the unmarked sarcasm above."
No, I knew that you were joking. I was just making a joke about the fact that his work is pretty much composed entirely of copyright enfringements.
bigmusic typed "I think it's only fair that you scan it and post it for us, since he copyed and pasted it from us."
I'm not sure how to pull this off. I'll look around for a scanner. Maybe someone else here has it?

You could take a picture -- it'll last longer! I mean, take a picture and put it up on your Flickr page.

Still, kind of rude to not pony up the $5 and ask.

Brian actually just emailed me with the PDF. Here it is. He also said:
If you have a moment, maybe tell the people of Metafilter-land: Thanks for taking their textual sampling in stride and/or as an honor. I put it in the book to remind anyone who encounters the work (10 banned) on CD that it was created originally for the web. Also, the Metafilter discussion contained insight, snark, and a wealth of correct and incorrect facts and was far better than anything I could have written. In exchange I promise to keep, as always, everything for free as long as bandwidth allows.
