May (we) meetup in Melbourne?

I'll be in Melbourne, Australia for a few days near the end of May, and I have a free Saturday night (May 24th). I'd love to spend some socially enjoyable time with Melburnians and others (if applicable)! I'm staying in the CBD near Flinders St. Station, but I'm willing to travel (public transport).

I've chosen the date, but I'll leave the suggestion of suitable venues to the locals.

Any excuse for a beer.

I'm, in.

I also enjoy beer and live in Melbourne. Let's do it.

Possibly. I'll mention it to some others.

Plenty of good locations - not going to risk my cool reputation (ha ha) by recommending one.

The YMCA is near there.

We could take in a lecture then home in time for an early night.

I enjoy Melbourne and live in beer.

It's not nearly as much fun as you might think.

Sorry, I'm out for the 24th. Is any other day a possibility?

The 24th is pretty much the only option for me.

God! Well, if you think you're more important than me then fine! (I keed. Have an awesome time.)

I think I can make that!

So, where's it to be then? I'm pretty clueless as far as central Melbourne goes, any of you cool young locals care to suggest a relatively quiet venue with the requisite level of sophistication?

Assuming that the radio silence currently being experienced is simply a pause for due consideration rather than a collective "nah bro", I'll take this opportunity to point out that anything anywhere on the 86 tram line would be SWEET by me. Sweet.

won't that be kinda dangerous after a few drinks?

Propose tiny Hell's Kitchen - not far from Flinders Street station

Centre Place. Off Flinders Lane between Swanston and Elizabeth - above a tiny cafe called Jungle Juice.

-- OR --

So perhaps Order of Melbourne, opp Storey Hall, RMIT, Swanston St. More space for wild gesticulation.

Look for big red door and walk up three flights of stairs.

How about The Workshop? Though I've only ever been there on a Friday night.

Looks intriguing wilful.

No in order for me to get there I need to lie to the wife. What time are we planning so that I can be walking the dog, buying milk, staring in a porno etc...

Workshop looks interesting. Anytime is OK by me, I'm usually finished work by 5pm on a Saturday. Yippeeee.

Hi everyone, I'm in Australia already! Sorry for my delayed response; I just got email access today.

Workshop sounds terrific! Thanks for choosing something near the station; anytime in the evening works for me.

Liquorice, I'm sorry my choice of date doesn't work for you. Clearly, it's my loss. ;-)
