A METAFILTER EXCLUSIVE! October 28, 2008 3:14 PM   Subscribe

Heads up, Metafilter FRONTLINE fans. The latest site, The War Briefing is up three hours early and you can watch the show before it actually airs tonight. And you are the first people to know about it!

Only vaguely Metafilter-related, I know, but lots of people here like FRONTLINE and I think it's cool to be able to see the show before it's broadcast. I can't post stuff about it to the front page, but I wanted people to have a chance to see it before it airs.

Oh! Thanks so much for sharing. Frontline is hands-down my favorite thing about PBS, followed by NOVA. You rock, Mayor Curley.

You've got my vote Mayor, thanks.

Why can't Mayor Curley post this to the front page?
posted by KokuRyu at 5:10 PM on October 28, 2008

Because that would be a selflink.

Ah, yes, I seem to remember something about Mayor Curley working for Frontline. However, it wasn't immediately apparent to me (ie, I couldn't remember that fact at the time) when this was first posted on MetaTalk earlier.

Since MetaTalk is fundamentally a forum for nitpicking, perhaps the Mayor Curley-Frontline connection could have been made more clear earlier.

But I know what I'm watching tonight after the kids are in bed.

Sorry. My connection to FL has come up a lot here recently; to the point that it affects my candor on the rest of Metafilter. But tonight was a rare event and I see so much appreciation for the show here that I had to share.

Well, I'm sorry I made you say sorry.

I'd suggest a sock puppet but I suspect that you may already have one.

This is my sockpuppet, and it's my only sockpuppet, but it's a little transparent.

Mayor Curley: I will gladly post new frontline episode linksto the blue any time for you. I'd also be rather shocked if anyone here really minded that self-link.

or do you, guys?
posted by krautland at 8:07 AM on October 29, 2008

Yeah, I think a lot of us do. Even if the material is great (like this), it has to be linked by someone unrelated. Like you, and that's a nice offer.

Oh, and thanks, Mayor!

Shouldn't this go in Projects?

btw Mayor Curley: if you have any influence on the frontline web guys, can't you nudge them to give us the full episode in one file or at least set up to continuously play? clicking next every six minutes seems a rather odd thing to require.
posted by krautland at 3:42 PM on October 29, 2008

As it is, unless I was doing something dumb, it takes two clicks to actually get the next bit started. Even if the one click is absolutely a requirement, surely it could made one click..

Nice. I linked to it over in the 'Ending Chaos in Afghanistan and Pakistan' thread.
