I reckon the rodeo is as good an excuse as any to have a meetup, y'all. Houston Meetup, March 2010. Unless yer yellow...

It's a major-holiday-free month. I'm going to suggest Saturday March 20, 2010. And I'm going to suggest barbecue. But I'm just going to suggest those things so that we have somewhere to start the discussion.

Yay March Meetup! I'm probably working that day and the next AM early so I'll arrive late and leave early probably. I'm open to the Saturday before and after that if anyone else has a conflict.

Another bbq suggestion: Hickory Hollow. They have live music: The Blenders are playing that night.

This is freaky. I just last night told csarkos that I was calling a meetup. Depending on how much of a trek you're willing to make, Baker's Ribs is kind of the cat's pajamas.

I'm with mrbill - I loved Anvil and had a great time, but I'd love for this to be a little less squished.

I'd also suggest that we choose a day (if possible) when nobody has to rush in and rush out! Any opposition to the 13th or the 27th?

As for location - let's keep the suggestions coming! Then I'll create a poll that we can use to sort through the options!

Uh yeah. Though, if you all want to come watch me implode, I'll be staying at the Super 8 in Pasadena next week. You're welcome to come watch me cower in the fetal position before, during and after the bar exam. I'm sure it'll at least be mildly amusing.

Woo hoo! Does anyone know if Goode Co is the type of place I should call ahead and ask for a reservation? Or will they laugh at me for various reasons including but not limited to a) this isn't that kind of joint; or b) we're too popular for your puny reservations?

I called Goode Co. and they said that if we are approaching double digits in number of people that we would be better served by going "across the street" and making reservations at the Armadillo Palace and if we wanted barbecue that the Palace could just fetch it from Goode Co.

I'm thinking we get a definite head count at this point as this seems like it could be a big to-do.

We're overthinking this plate of beans. (Big surprise, huh?) It's a serve-yourself cafeteria-style line, I'll get there a little early and bring a toddler or a dog or something to keep a full table "reserved" through simple repulsion, and it'll all work out. See y'all there!

I would also like to make a motion for "after-party" to be somewhere like Gingerman in Rice Village. Good selection of wine and beer.

Yeah, I think we'll be fine at Goode and if not we will relocate and leave directions to where we are. It will be like a treasure hunt, but with nerds at the end.

I'll be wearing my MetaFilter shirt, so if you aren't familiar with anyone and haven't been to a meetup before just look for the familiar Blue.
