Meet-up in Berlin?
Hi,
Now the ice and snow JUST MIGHT be finally gone for now from our fair city, would anyone be interested in meeting up for a few bevvies maybe even OUTSIDE sometime after the Easter weekend? I saw there've been meet-ups in Berlin in the past and would love to delurk and meet MefiBerliners. Somewhere along the canal maybe?

A temporary but recurring Berliner, I'm out of town until the 15th of April (Esperanto conference! former Yugoslavia!), but would love to try something after that.

Well the Teltowerschiffsfahrtkanal is always lovely this time of year but how about we stick to the Landwehr? Maybe Ankerklause? Or Übersee on Paul Lincke, or Brachvogel further along, and very roughly from 5ish on maybe the ninth of May? Anyone any preferences?

Sounds good, Senti on the other end of Paul-Lincke-Ufer is a nice Biergarten at that time of year and they have tapas.

So, to not let this die down, I just chime in to say Landwehr Kanal is great. Ankerklause might be overly crowded, Senti is pretty nice, but not so much for food (haven't tried the tapas though). Also, Café Gri Gri is pretty nice, and has great Kuchen.
So, runincircles, maybe just set a date and place, and let's hope more Berliners will see it in the sidebar.

Yup, I'm not going to go so far as to boost Senti's food or service, just their nice Biergarten.
I'm always down for Ankerklause (could be v. packed on a nice night though). I never quite like Gri Gri's vibe somehow. But anywhere on Paul-Lincke-Ufer (or Maybachufer if we want to make that long trek to Neukölln) is fine as far as I'm concerned.
Should we call it for ~5pm May 9th so it can be sidebarred?

OK, since there isn't a lot of discussion about where to meet, runincircles should probably pick an official location now so that passers-by don't think this is a dead thread/meetup, especially since it sounds like there might be some visiting out-of-towners who might need to schedule.

Right, my quick read was that Senti was the place, but I see it's not official. I haven't been there before, but biergarten on Paul-Linke Ufer sounds great, so I will vote Senti.

So, Mrs. Your Time Machine Sucks and I will be in Senti from ~5pm-to-as-long-as-required-to-enjoy-some-tapas-and-a-beer on Sunday (indoors and likely in the farther-back room if inclement, outdoors otherwise) with a little tabletop Metafilter sign. I'll stay longer if mefites appear, of course. Looking forward to seeing you if it's in the cards!

Just FYI, Chicago Author Bill Ayers will be doing a talk/reading/signing thing in Berlin that night. Not sure of the venue, but it will probably pop up on the media radar. just in case you guys wanted to do something around that.

I'd be game, although I'm so pale after this winter that I feel I ought to warn other attendees to consider sunglasses if there is a danger of reflection off from any light sources. Want to propose a date and place? I think that Pannierstraße is central for many Berliner Mefites and it seems to have a lot going on beverage-wise since last the last couple of summers; other Kreuzkölln-ish options could be Reuterplatz or thereabouts.
