Popular Time Machine Pony April 1, 2010 6:20 AM   Subscribe

Can I have a pony that shows me the most popular / favorited AskMe questions by a specific day, week, month, or tag. If I could, I would ride that pony like I stole it.

That's OK, I've already got one.

Um... was that TMI?

More seriously, yeah, I could query the Infodump for this information pretty easily on a sort of one-off basis if anybody wants to mail me a specific request (date range or tag). As could many other people who regularly participate in the datawankery threads, I'm sure.

That tends to be a nice quick way of figuring out if this would be even a useful thing to have by getting some idea what the results would be like. Building some type of a thing that would allow people to pull up these results from a web form would be... less easy.

Paramour

For him she dressed as a sexy Bo-Peep,
took him to bed, and let him be a bhaaa-ad sheep.
Because of him her bed will always smell of butter
and future lovers will ask, “You eat a lot of popcorn in here?

Then there’s those photos she’ll never live down.

She didn’t mind being the good witch, kind of dug Dorothy,
even liked playing the bad, but the flying monkey bit was too far,
and she said “No!” to the munchkins. Decency demands a line!

She took the ropes, and the candle wax, and even the whips.
She played the games and bought the outfits
and for him she found a partner when he said he wanted a threesome.
Unfortunately, it was his best friend Steven.

For him she learned to like pain, but not as much as he did.
And she never got the whole toe sucking business,
though she kind of found it pleasing and surprisingly arousing.

For him she bought a dildo (this brought her to four, but don’t tell).
She let him teach her orgasm, something she’d learned from Seventeen
(when she was twelve). She wore the boots and corsets and wondered
if all men were like this.

She hoped so!

Early on, she decided he was the one, decided she’d do anything
for this man. No other way to explain the whole pony costume.
And she forgave him when he proudly told their friends,
“I’m back in the saddle again!”

It was love.

I sent the above poem to the Archbishop of Canterbury. He had this to say about it: "...has some very good stuff, but seems too close at some points to the raw data (for example, the use of a person’s name in a poem needs careful thought, and I’m not absolutely sure it’s justified here), and reads more like work in progress. But I do hope you’ll carry on with the creativity."

Yes, if there is a hell I am screwed.

If this is someone's idea of an April Fools joke I will kill someone.

You know, I go though life so confused. Seriously, it's a perpetual state. Occasionally I start to think I am getting it, then I realize, nope, still confused.

My earliest memory is one of being confused, "Why is that cake on fire?" Sometimes I think I might have earlier memories than a flaming cake, but those images are fuzzy.

The best way to ride a stolen pony is inconspicuously.

This sounds like an awesome idea. I would ride this pony all over town.

So.........is this pony / feature possible? Seems to me like it would not be difficult to implement. How much would said pony cost me? Seriously.

jasondigitized, did you see this comment in the next thread over, which links to a neat thing Combustible Edison Lighthouse made? Aside from the tags part, it looks like it can be made to do what you want.

I would love this.

The best part about that is if you take a number on this list and then hit the username and subtract the number of Metafilter only posts listed in their profile - you can see the number of deleted posts they have. Feel free not to look at mine.

I added tags to the "Which posts..." queries.

That's awesome, Combustible Edison Lighthouse.

So do people request "ponies" because other people do it...or is there an actual reason for doing it. Cuz I can tell you what the answer to this request will be...

Because sometimes people do actually get their pony, through official channels or otherwise. And sometimes we get a whole pony factory, like in this case.

Combustible Edison Lighthouse, that is outstanding.
