Yup, weirdness due to some crazy heavy load it looks like. pb is getting knee deep in it right now, we're in a parking lot of a supermarket in Lake Arrowhead, CA. Woo! Sorry about the mess.

Abbat and I have to wait a whole week to ask a new question, and some peeps get 3 or 4 in a minute. What's up with that?

That happened some time last week, too. The same question appeared eight times in a row.

Looks like cleanup is working now. Load on the site was crazy, crazy high, and it took a bit longer than normal to nail the problem because we're on the road and have shitty net reception besides.

Great big pile of traffic from a single IP address at a university in Italy. My money is on a CS undergrad who really, really needs to think through how to go about crawling a website or something. Woof.

I only know those two themes. Someone else needs to come up with one for PB, Vacapinta and the other guy. What-sis-name.

When in this world the front page reads
of Deep Space Nine and Atomic Bees
innocent but repeatedly
the call goes out from Italy to
Vaca pinta
Every time I do this sort of thing I realize halfway through that no one will be able to 'hear' how I'm doing the syllables, and it'll just read like bad poetry. But it has the cadence of Underdog in my mind, it really does.

Looks like they're staying here, which may or may not resemble a summer camp filled with serial-killers depending on how many 80s teen slasher movies you've watched.

dirtdirt: But it has the cadence of Underdog in my mind, it really does.

Oh...I thought it was a wrongly cadenced Burma Shave ad.

Because my brain apparently processes thinks only into pop culture references that are before I was born.

(I was going to post this 3 times but am trying to cut back on jokes only I find funny.)

It's more complicated this time. I'm rooming with pb (we have a little "condolet" with two floors), Matt's across the way twenty feet and staying with Greg Knauss, and I think Jessamyn is staying at the overflow housing (resort was over- or double-booked, or something?) along with ColdChef. They're driving up separate from us, so I don't actually know if she's here yet or en route or what.

Also, the cabin things we're staying in are steeply uphill from where the party will be happening, so there's a like significant bonus multiplier for successful drunken stumbling given the difficulty level.

Ack! All the mods shouldn't be in the same vehicle! You never put the President and the Vice President in the same plane, don't you people know that? Metafilter could become an anarchic wasteland if they're all taken out at once! Is there even a designated succession plan? The sub-pages of MeFi will be ruled as fiefdoms by strongusers and warpuppets! CHAOS WILL REIGN!

malapropist: Oh, and I honestly wonder why the Star Trek creators thought anybody was looking for an episode where Quark becomes a woman.

That really happened? I've seen most Star Trek episodes through DS9 but when I read your post (all three times it showed up in my RSS reader) I thought that was an example of something so bad it wasn't real. Wow.

(But my Google search did turn up a TV Trope I'd never read... which is never a bad thing)

So I guess the real question is are you guys having maximum fun? How do you know if your fun is maximum? What if someone not at MaxFunCon claims to have more fun than at MaxFunCon, is there a way to measure it?
