Automated truncation of this long comment in mid-<small>appears to have broken Recent Activity.

I don't know a single thing about how the coding for this site works, but is there a way to get the automagic tag closer doohicky to work in concert with the long-comment-truncator in Recent Activity? Or would that be A) impossible or B) server-demandy?

That actually wasn't necessary, jessamyn, as the comment had been pushed off the RA page by the time I hit Post.
I just thought there was a tag-closing robot that fixed stuff like that so the page doesn't get all italicised every now and then, and that maybe said robot was out having a robo-smoke or something.

No, C) That is possible. I turned it off yesterday because mathowie had some spiffy image tags going in the tshirt thread. Now it's back on and this won't happen again. Sorry about the hassle.

pb's response to my question about this suggests it was something they were already working on when I pointed it out, but nonetheless: MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE. MINE.

Hurm so did the death of the IMG tag predate the birth of Recent Activity? I don't remember as I didn't discover Recent Activity for an embarrassingly long time.

...generally speaking this is one of those edge case "this will happen maybe once a year" things.
I find it amusing that "maybe once a year" edge cases are deep into stay-up-all-night-worrying territory for me [SERIOUSLY IT MAY HAPPEN AT A CRITICAL MOMENT - WHAT IF THE USER HAS A SUBSTANDARD COMPUTING EXPERIENCE?].
It is possible I need to get a life.
I wonder if this computer has an off switch.

I almost did that myself, but somebody has to exercise the Bugs tag every now and then so the gaskets don't dry out and leak.
