Sorry about the brief outage today

Sorry about the brief outage today; the networking equipment at this end of the T1 had a seizure, apparently, and needed to be restarted in order to get things back in order. Makes no sense to me (or to the networking gurus at my ISP), but there you have it.

Crash - You. Have. No. Idea.... it's like all the shit hit the fan at the same time on the same day. Oh yeah, and our tech and I had to build 12 systems for temps that arrive tomorrow morning.

Well, there was THAT outage, too! It looks like the CSU/DSU on the T1 got hit today during a flash storm here in New York; it meant that we got the line back up, but that ultimately the CSU/DSU had so many errors that it couldn't stay up. Luckily, about 20 minutes away was a drop-in replacement for the equipment, and I was able to run and get it tonight. Things look OK for now; let's hope they stay that way!

I just replace the cat 5 from the csu/dsu with licorice whips (cherry, always cherry). Nothing really changes, but it smells nice.

[And it's fun to try to get an RJ-45 connector squeezed on to one of them. With the hours I'm usually waiting for the local telco to get off there asses and fix the problem that they keep saying is mine, trying to make little twisted pairs out of licorice passes the time better than minesweeper or solitaire.]

I *love* netadmin humor. Isn't there a website/support group for you folks somewhere? And thanks from me, delfuego! As usual, I always think there's something wrong with *my* computer when MeFi has outages, so I check matt's a.w.l.n. to be sure....

I always check matt's a.whole to see if there's something wrong, too. If tha failes, I check Jason/DelFuego's cheese.
