A Huge Birthday Thank-you!

So a few weeks ago I posted a question asking for ideas to Harry Potter-ify my wife's birthday. I wanted to thank Metafilter generally for being the kind of place where I can ask that kind of question and also thank everybody who took the time to give an answer. There were a ton of really great suggestions!

Her birthday was this past Friday and everything came together fantastically if I do say so myself. (Facebook photo album. Should be publicly viewable.)

In particular, this comment by ceramicblue was fantastic and gave me the idea of soliciting a bunch of internet strangers to send birthday cards to my wife. Much to my delight many offered to do just that!

So I'd like to offer a very special thank-you to:

This was a really important birthday for my wife for a lot of reasons and not just because it happened to be a multiple of ten. You all helped make it magical and I really can't thank you all enough. (Although, with all the stange "secret" envelopes showing up for me she was starting to wonder if she should be getting jealous! Okay, not really: but it was driving her nuts that she knew I had something planned but no idea what it was.)

I showed her the thread afterwards and she was really touched so thanks again to everybody who answered the question and/or sent something, it really meant a lot to both of us.

Yay! Thanks for sharing a little bit of how the celebration went. Your diy Hedwig is especially great.

My favorite asks are the "help me do something nice for my anniversary/someone's birthday/someone who needs a cheering up" genre. Even better than "help name my pet," and that's a high bar.

A very merry unbirthday to you! (unless this is coincidentally your birthday, which is possible I suppose...)
