HTML tag corrupting a link July 20, 2003 2:45 PM Subscribe
There's a corruption at the end of a hot link - http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/27108 - caused by an odd "a href" tag. How would I go about getting it sorted? I've got a corker of a post to put up...
I wonder if it's a TB fault?

From the mangled source:
I don't really know what to make of this, so I'm taking some [a '_self href="http://zapatopi.net/afdb.html"]measures.[/a]
self-link! self-link!

It's broken in IE but not using mozilla firebird, which I d/led after dg's comments the last "everyone who uses IE sucks" thread. I feel so smug now. Thanks, dg!

it's not a feature, it's a bug.

well, it's a feature if it gets you to GARB (get a real browser), right?

Be very careful, iconomy. Mozilla ate my bookmarks yesterday, after I'd used it for 2 months with no problems. Over 1500 bookmarks. Not backed up recently. /cry

1500?? Yikes - thanks for the warning. I thought I had lost my measly 800 bookmarks last week and I was devastated. Will back up tonight!

whew, I feared I might be the only obsessive compulsive wacko with zillions of bookmarks...it's so nice to know there are others out there like me. My people!
Sincere sympathies rushmc! if that happened to me I would get facial tics.

Hm. In IE the last three comments seem normal, but in mozilla they seem smug.

Look under "edit, preferences" - you probably have your smirk filters set at the wrong level.

Careful, if you're using Mac IE, you can't change the predefined smugness settings.

Update: I found a pretty recent backup of my bookmarks. All is not lost. I shall not soon trust Mozilla again, though (although I will continue to use it).
